Don't have to take art classes when I can come see the quality of work produced on this site!
The range of styles is incredible!
-definitely one of the best threads I've encountered! _________________ "Oh what a tangled web we weave

3 rd picture of me.....and the last one. This is getting rather self-indulgent!
I just wanted to see if i could do it.
Process:
I used photoshop just using the round brushes. The only variant I used was the "flow" feature. I always keep the opacity at 100% Also, I paint with my mouse. I don't like using my wacom... hey! It works for me! Sometimes i use the wacom for details like eyes but not in this picture.
Thanks for putting up your work everyone. You've inspired me to finally get my butt in gear!
-bye!
it's been fun.

yeah bob: Yes. He is my friend. hahhaha. We just had cup of tea. kidding.
Yes I read about his story. He inlove with his own image on the surface of the lake. then He like to kiss the image and fall in to the lake and drowned. After he died by the lake grow daffodil. People think the flow is transfrom by him.
I remenber when I were little girl. I had a book about his story and have the illustration of him. I quess the Illustrator didn't do a good job of him. in the book the illustration make him looks not so handsome. I like to say he looks near ugly.
I can't understand the guy looks like that will love his image so much and even though kill by the self image. I asked my mother why the guy so ugly will think he is so beautiful and can't love anybody else? Can't remenber what my mother replay.
No. 106

Chiani: Narcisse wasn't ugly, not logical, maybe it's a personal interpretation from writer of your book.
Narcisse was so beautiful that nobody could be insensitive. But he didn't understand why, in fact his partents refused that Narcisse knows, cause God Tirsias has tell Narcisse would live if he never saw his face, why? i can't remember. But now why he was died? First because he saw himself on the lake (obvious), second he've refused to be linked with Echo (one god's daughter.) Thus it was a kind of revenge. So, while i was looking at him into the fountain, he fell in love with the waves which the lake returned to him (Echo, girl's name and phenomenon's name)so, he forgot to eat, to drink and he died. He took root at the edge of the fountain, he was transformed into a flower... called today Narcisse, a pretty flower which is reflected in water in summer, to decay with the autumn..
Some say that the lake was his mother (Lirop or Liriop, i can't remember), a pure woman who was raped and Narcisse was the result of this rape, some say he looked for his mother into the lake, one love unreachable .
The theme is - i think - self-centredness...
well, i should think to stop here |

Greetings
This is the first time I post here, I have problems with this Portrait thing, I think its more difficult to draw my own face than others. This one is resemblance 90% I think, some problems with the mouth and the cheeks got a bit big.
What is the best way to draw portraits, do you draw the whole head first and then add details or do you people just draw one piece at the time? tips will be really appreciated. thank you.
Heres my ugly Mug Bub:

here's self portrait gone wack. Tried somthing different - think it's still probably better than the other crap I did - comments and critism very welcomed!
Matt - dunno about the good peeps here, but generally I'll try to get values (painting) shape of the face, then cheeks brow, end of nose, chin and mouth, kinda puts everyhting on the map. So called planes are everything. Love to here other responses!
edit here's one : http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?s=f6994c218bcfd998e504c910bd091d91&threadid=416&goto=nextnewest _________________ A bit more practice perhaps |

Love the tropical colors lilfrog! The nose seems to kinda get lost though, it's always hard to make suer your in the same position, a bit of fudging is always needed to maintain perspective!
had a bit of fun with this one, maybe it should have color who cares
about 1/2 hour

Thx, Mon. Great lighting in yours as everytime!
lilfrog, yep, looks really great!
I have drawn a new one ... not really happy with it, i started with too much black in some parts - and pencil is a one-way-medium.
(and rubber doesnt work very well anytime)

this morning's warm-up experiment:
I only used the impasto brushes in painter, though I had to resize it so some of the cheezier moments got lost in it... It's only just now that I have been able to use those brushes, I got a new computer last week and my old one would throw a fit if I even thought about using cpu demanding tools. Now that I have tried it... well, I don't see why people complain so much about 'em =) I love it, makes me feel like rembrandt!
BTW, that hair-do is called "knullrufs" in swedish. Old photo, now my hair is 5mm all over =)
Farley13 - Yeah, that one was a stinker... Bad mouth-day =)
Duracel - Thanks!
Cheers!
