1) I've been sending out submissions for a few years.
2) Thanks.
3) I have learned on my own and received alot of help from other artists and critiques.
4) I am currently working on covers for a comic called the Wraith from Alliance Comics and some other small projects. I hope to publish some independant work in the next couple of years.
Thanks for asking.

Thanks antipro. I appreciate your enthusiasm. The airplane was from a reference of a WWI airplane. I know it wasn't American but I can't remember where from. I definitely needed reference for the lion. Some of my references for shading came from a combination of my mind, photographs, and artists like Alan Davis and Adam Hughes.
Thanks again

Greatings notbillbixby,
Just browsing through your pages and overall it's very good. You were able to show good emotions in the characters. Your anatomy is solid. Layout, camera angles are all very dynamic.
One of the only things I can really suggest working on is your perspective. On a couple of the panels you use an over head shot that looks down on the characters. It almost looks like your trying to do a fake 3 point on them... anyway... In the shots where your looking down on the characters actually looks like if the camera was eye level, not above looking down. You can really notice this on page 3, panel 3 & 4.
For doing shots like these I would suggest using a blue line pencil and set up a grid line for your ground and perspective points and draw boxes for where your characters will stand and the do your character drawing within the perspective box.
Another thing it's really good that you actually shaded in all your black areas instead of just putting "X's" there to tell the inker what to ink. That way you dont give your page to an inker and have it come back looking like nothing you thought it would.
And on a finial note I would have like to seen the lion lick the side of Batman's face... or not....
Good work overall, can't wait to see more. |

Thanks Hellspawn, good crit. I do have alot of trouble with perspective. I am about to try a new approach where I scan in my roughs and work out my perspective lines in adobe illustrator.
As far as the lion licking batmans face, I considered that but remembered that a lion is supposed to be able to lick the meat off an animals bones. That could have been messy. But then again, I may probably be way off.
Thanks again.

Lookin' real good there. And that cuddling action between Batman and that lion's a classic, dude! Only one question... how did you come up with the idea of combining Tarzan and Batman? _________________

Hello Flat,
I received this script from Bart Sears at CrossGen. It was written by Ron Marz for a Darkhorse/DC Elseworld crossover that was published 4-5 yrs ago.
