I *think* the paintings are cool, but I can't tell because of the amazingly intrusive music.
Couldn't find a way to shut it off, so I had to flee. I really hope it's not your own music, as you will now hate me forever, but it mixed really poorly with my MP3......I like that viridian green colored forest at the top of paintings tho!

That's pretty awesome, especially the image of the old people playing nintendo! But marc_taro's right, you should have a way to turn that music off. It wasn't bad, but I personally don't like background music on web pages.
But yeah, you're welcome to go check out my site if you like. It's not written in flash, but I bet it's easier to maintain! _________________ Tim Davis

Lose the music, it ~ sux ~ if you have any friends that play guitar, maby they should compose somthing for u, or just lose the music thing... even though youv probably spent many hours of work into your web site, simple is better. Youv had lotsa practice doing flash stuff right >? _________________ crazy guitar player william |

WOW! Awesome stuff man, but I must agree that the music is very intrusive. My opinion is that if you must have music, then it should very much be a secondary element to the visual user experience; too much music and you run the risk of having a "cognitive breakdown".
Derek Prospero's web site does a good job of using ambient style music; it's very subdued and almost unnoticed in the background. Yikes - his site appears down for the moment!
One other small and non-showstopping thing: I would give the close "X" on the view window a little more visual prominence, because the window covers your default navset, and it's important that people see that X; you want to make sure they can get back to that navset.
Overall high marks! I love the color - the feel. Aside from the music I love the experience!

wow, thanks for all the input. I had no idea about the music thing, good thing I posted it here first. I really like the way the button sounds interact with the music, but It's not what I think that matters eh? I'll definately put in some controls.
Marc_taro - it is my own make, but no worries, everyone has there tastes.
Tim- checked out your site, I was so excited about the dental plan... but I'm not old enough. I was very impressed with your painting of the bridge and stream at sunset, the details were very much more than I have undertaken, but the painting as a whole doesn't quite sit right with me. I think you need more soft edges to get that last 10% (especially the trees, and bridge archs)
Will-A friend actually did play this stuff. It is remixed from Yushin Mabe's rendition of pachelbel cannon on classic guitar. Sorry you don't like it, thanks for the comments.
Gort-Thanks. Very solid advice. I understand what you mean about it being overbearing. When you say it should be secondary, are you saying it should just be quieter, or have less going on (probably both I guess) Thanks!
Lousy Toast - it took about two or three days to program. It's the content that takes forever.
Thanks again all, I really appreciate the input. I'll get a music button and try to make some of the nav elements a little more obvious. _________________ Capoeira rocks!

That's a cool site, your character designs are great. The music is cool too. And you are from BYU! BYU rejected me!
I have a little suggestion about the layout the site. You put the main title entries in those "squares" in the center and they take a lot of spaces.
When I want to return to the main page, I must close the subwindow and choose again. Also, there isn't enough space for the thumbnails. They are just too small to identify. So I am suggesting you leave more space for the graphics, and put the main title entries to somewhere else so viewer can navigate easily. _________________ http://ebrian.epilogue.net |

awesome, just awesome.
The site is ok, but you really do need a "stop the noise" - button. Not that the music is bad, but it does get annoying. :p
Your stuff rocks tho, and ...yeah. Very nice portfolio you have there.
Keep it up. ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Hey, I remember playing your game months ago. It's got nice animation. Try dimming the backgrounds in your game to make the characters stand out more, and I like the music on your website as well. |
