Goddam, i have a floppy drive phibia. You know how when you use a floppy to dump some files on it or read from it, the light on the drive is still lit for a few seconds after it's done reading/writing.
So my phobia is that i never take out the floppy when the light is on thinking that it might damage the disc cause it's still "spinning" but im pretty sure it doesnt.
Anybody more technical about floppy drives can dissolve, or reassure, my floppy phobia?

Thank you.

Floppies are evil I tell you. They draw you in with a false sense of security and as you think you have just backed up that latest pic the floppy becomes obsolete, broken, destroyed or something worse. That's why I try to avoid floppies. If I am forced to use them I use several of them, just to outsmart them. The floppies are out there and they are pissed...

Heh that's crap cause i need my floppies! Those angry lil' bastads.
I dont have internet at home (i moved away from internet haha) and to get stuff to my home computer i have to use floppies.
I'm still stransfering some big VST instrument to my house cause it takes up like 8 floppies and one turned out to be corrupt goddam.
Anyways, i guess i'll keep on trusting my phobia instincts since none of you geeks know for sure .. Very Happy

I'm currently borrowing the computer infront of me, and only upgraded a coupla parts to it, like a Radeon 9700, keybrrd and... floppy drive. It felt weird not having one in there. There's on CDRW in here, so that may be the reason. It feels wrong having NO way to back up one's data, even though I can upload it somewhere.

$25 well spent? Who knows...

gum solves all floppy drive problems. if the disk is stuck, put it on the end of an eraser, jam it in the drive and pull it out. if it doesn't work when you try it another time, get another stick of gum, put it in your mouth and chew away your worries.
