Ok, since this has generated a LITTLE bit of interest, I guess I will show a finished design of one the main characters. His name is Darios Barumas and he is the last Gryphon Knight as the others of his order were destroyed.

The detail is awesome, i wish I had the attention span to put as much into my work. If I might comment on one thing, that is a kind of awkward way to hold a sword.

In this comic, attention to detail is one of the things we really hope to set us apart from the sea of various fantasy books. We really want this to look and feel like a film. The painting style is extremely detailed and textured; like something you would see on the recent Final Fantasy RPGS.

More replies would be great. Feel free to speak your mind. I know this is the cliche knight, but most of the other characters are kinda out there. And I love playing with the whole "knight and fantasy" and putting a new spin on it.

i really like the detail in this pic, however i dont really feel that this is a good character sketch, but fear not it only needs a little improvement to make it excellent. the first thing you need to do is give his face more unique and identifying features, the head you currently have is very pristine and smooth and does not fit the description that you gave of the character.my suggestions are to give him some scars and make him a bit more grizzled looking, give him a busted nose and deep set eyes and crows feet and that sort of thing that make him look like a guy more whos spent a serious amount of time trudging around and kicking ass. the other thing you need to do is make his armor less new, ding it up and have it chipped and broken with jerry rigged repairs, another thing you could do would be to have mismatched armor pieces, since he is the last of his order it makes sense that he wouldnt be able to obtain replacement pieces that are the proper style, and as well he probably would want to draw too much attention to himself, since all the rest of his order are dead it can be assumed he is hunted as well. if you like what you hear and want any more suggestions feel free to email me or contact me through aol instant messenger.

That's taste I think......

I like this character ALOT!!!!
There are still some things which you could make better.
For example his left foot it to little..or there is someting wrong with the perspective..
And the blade lacks of detail. Maybe that's taste also....

Anyway, I couln't do it better. Well done!

And Zippy, thanks a ton for takin the time to do sketches! Wow that has never happened in one of my post and I really appreciate it.

As far as the face goes. Yes, you are right, this wasnt a good shot to show the face.

Along with your suggestions, you would have to know a little bit more about the story to know why he is in that condition. But, actually you are right, when we first meet Darios, he is dinged up and disheveled. Only later does he get a somewhat pristine look to his armor, and that only lasts so long.

But, once again thanks alot and keep them coming!!
