I wanted to paint a really disgusting zombie...

But I wanted it to be a little different. I thought there weren't many female zombies around...

Guts hanging out and stuff...

I think the rendering is starting to look nice, but honestly, I think you've jumped the gun a bit and overlooked some problems with the initial pose of the character. The hips and legs are at such an akward angle in contrast to the torsoe, that it makes the pose very unbelievable. I think I see where you were trying to go with it...obviously, this is a zombie that has some disfigurment, and it would have a somewhat limping, deadweight, stance. I just think you took it too far. Point the feet, legs, and hips in the direction the zombie is looking. Also, the right arm seems twisted in a very akward way; specifically the forearm and hand. I would think a zombie's limbs would hang like dead weight, however the position of the right arm seems to suggest some false motion that is not supported by the rest of the pose.

Do some rough gestural drawings, and find your pose and the correct anatomy for it. Once you have that locked down, you can go to town with the rendering; which I have a feeling, will be very nice!

Yeah I agree w/ Synista, make em more saggy, also take into account biology and how things rot (compliments my Forensic Anthropologyuy class) Soft tissues rot first....
So yeah those nipps will rot before the boobs, the boobs before the chest. Similarly the nose and eyes before the cheeks, the inside of the mouth first. and the lips will rot off too. The skin will dry up and crack, unless exposed to moisture in which case it will bloat and slough off kinda like a bar of soap if you leave it in water.also the skin will tend to pull back esp around the eyes and mouth and other tightspots like ankles, hands, fingernails etc. After death the fermentation process in the "soft organs" (stomach liver, lungs, eyes, brain etc) will build in temperature and gas pressure and will ussually explode out the sides (not the front) because the abdominal muscles are stronger then the lateral ones. Also maybe guys comming out of the mouth (other cavities)

And needless to say take into account your good friends the insects and other animals. Unless she died in a hospital and was immediately interned in the morgur bugs of some sort are sure to have gotten to her. Flys will land and lay eggs on dead things in a matter of minutes, not hours or weeks in most places.

PS. If you want to salvage the leg I suggest maybe breaking it.... who knows maybe a car accident got her.... maybe a landrover... right about knee height.... Maybe some contusions on her head arms/chest????

well i for one see that the torso is crooked. Though, i thought it was supposed to be that way, conveying a twisted agonistic postion. It's also sort of reminecient of the greco roman contrapasto. Nice work, i don't really see what could be wrong with it. I mean, yeah the legs do look a little funny, but it's a zombie....maybe it died in a manner that made her like that, who knows. oh yeah, make the boobs more nasty, maybe take one out and just leave stiches where it was supposed to be?
