Yup, another self portrait. Much as before, except the mirror's on the other side this time, and the overcast sky was casting a bight white light onto the side of my face.
I gotta start making these more intersting -- different expressions/props etc. But I don't think I could hold many expressions for an hour and a half.
Thanks everyone for all the kind words I've been given! I never consider colour, I try and put it out of my mind and get the actuall right volume that looks like my head. I just pick up my colours out photoshop's preset swatches pallette. I'll play with colour when I can get form and lighting spot on.

Second self portrait today Very Happy
I decided to make it more intersting so I went into the attic and found a hat and got a lamp from somewhere else for lighting. ChiaNi: A conincidence that you also paitined a hat in your portrait Laughing
I dunno what you guys think but I'm pretty close to pleased with this one.

That last one is nice duracel. Yeah, I like that one allot.

Here're two from a few days ago. These are less good ones. Bad ones.
All the same, by the end of my nine day holiday I had nine self portraits to show and I feel like I've improved significantly, so that's cool. You can see how far I've got to go though just by looking at how different I look in each of my slef portraits. Number 7 is best I think. Oh, and they all take me about 90 mins working at the resoloutionn they are here.

ines: The first thing that got me thinking in terms of the plains of a face was doing a copy of lucian freud. If you want to learn try doing a copy of one of his later works. That one looks col btw Smile

Shanx: Don't be afraid just turn up the opacity and go for it Smile You may find it hard at first but you will soon get the hang od it

antx: That is a cool sp has a lot of carictor

ChiaNi: I love the costume ones. I always really enjoy painting fabric it seems to make so much more sense than skin tones Smile.

ZippZopp: Glad to see you back. Good expression Smile

wasssup: Thouse are really fun love the colors

Capt. Fred: You last few have been really really good. You are getting a real sense of volume

Duracel That one is really good. I love the hair Smile

henkrygg: Looks good. Try to concentrat on things like the shape of the eyes.

Everybody show me you amazing air guitar skills. Find that uncool CD of trashy guitar music and lets see thouse air guitars. Here is a quick sketch of me listening to AC DC and yes I do feel ashamed that I enjoy that cd Wink.

Zippzopp : nice to see you back Smile I think I will wear a hat for my next one Smile

Chiani : I tried some more colours in this one, a little purple/pink but only a little. I am still not brave enough Smile

Lionel : Cheers dude, I stuck up the opacity on this one and then spent 2 hours smoothing it all down again! I need to learn to leave the colour there.

Capt. Fred : Wow man, they are very good. I like the one in the dark. I'm trying new lighting stuff, but it doesn't work as well as yours seem to.

This one took me 3 hours to complete! I must have spent 2 hours alone on the lips, but I just couldn't get them to look as pouty as I was in the mirror! Then my face started to ache from staring at the shadow from my lips to my cheeks! and the light was making me sweat! lol!

Anyway.. here it is.

I've been viewing these forums for long time but I'm very to to digital painting...and painting in general (been a fan of the pencil and pen and nothing else for a long time, lol). Anyway, I'm blown away by the quality of these paintings AND the speed done in them. I'm not saying that faster is better, but since you all can pump out such great art so quickly I'd love to see you animate some of this stuff. Seeing all of your paintings in motion would be incredible and it probably wouldn't take you that long to do a short 5 second movie thing. That would be sweet...

This night i took my watercolors again - last time its about a year ago.
After a short smudge-picture to get a bit firm in this medium i choosed something i know to try out this medium again. Wink

And here is the result.

PS: A bit squeezed in the diagonal - i think i didnt sit exact in front of the paper. Wink

I messed up the collar of the jacked. But with this picture in mind you would probably recognize me on the streets:

Fooey, I'm still bored... forced myself to pick up my tablet and paint til I have no inspirato left. Didn't take long -- I never have much when I'm content... need to be struggling or otherwise suffering in order to be full of inspirato. Go figure. I really like some of the stuff in this thread -- lots of talent, lots of beautiful people.

Here are two portraits that poured out; about 20 min each, both in the GIMP, the first an exercise in limited palette (white, middle grey, and black); the second, an exercise in unusual perspective (even with a webcam ref it was hard).
