... makes the coolest fucking eyewear I've ever seen. Yea yea, I know 90% of you are in the "why waste that much money on material things like clothes/sunglasses/etc. ?" camp, but you have to admit that these things look wicked:

It's always the man behind that makes the glasses.
Reminds me of Cyclops goggles in X-men. Wouldn't wear them anywhere except on the ski slopes though.

Yeah, The Sunglasses look really cool, but the person wearing them would look like a doofus - Unless they ofcourse look badass to the core in the first place.

Haha, good point.

I just like their eye candy appeal. I'd love to be a product designer for Oakley. They're obviously not afraid to push the limits and try things that might (and likely) fail. They've got marketing balls.

You're right... they do look pretty badass, but Hamster spoke my thoughts exactly. I can't think of anyone wearing those that I wouldn't bust out laughing at as soon as they turned around and strutted away. Razz

Here are some blue ones for you Max Wink

The blue ones Jezebel found could either be some real funky sunglasses or a bra for a fashion minded midget. The midget could also wear some matching blue oakleys for that outfit. No! I dont have a thing for or against midgets btw.

Yeah, Oakleys are nice, but they're a bit pricey for the regular consumer unless you're rolling in the dough. For me, I just goto the convinience store by the university and buy some Foakleys. 12 bucks! No one can tell the difference. The only problem is, they bust easily if you're careless, and I just busted my 2nd pair a few days ago....
I also agree on the point that only a select few can wear certain styles of models of oakleys. I mean, I thought the Romeo and Juliet models look amazing, and I went to a local store that carries Oaklies and tried them on, boy do they look retarded on me. I like the "Jacket" model though, they're the cheap ones I buy at the convinience store.
But shmeh, I now need to go find a pair of sunglasses that look alright on me.

Good sunglasses are important... especially here in California. There is a huge difference (in sight and build) between $12 and $250 pair. Money well spent if you ask me...

Oakleys look like shit on me too. Maui Jim!

I have two pair of Oakleys. Their marketing is bullshit, but they make nice glass. My all-black eye jackets are my favorites. I've had them for five years and they still look fresh. You do kind of need to look like a badass to wear them though . . . fortunately I look like just enough of a rapist to pull it off.

These are the newer "twenties". I'm not as crazy about them as I am about the Eyejackets. $127.50 I should've spent elsewhere:

Very high quality glass though. I see much clearer with them on. They'd be great for outdoor painting if I ever motivated my ass to go outside and paint.

Yea, I have twenties too -- the silver/blue ones:

But now I've found a pair I like better than the ones I first posted, and they wouldn't make me look like a goof.

It works a lot better on the wallet if you know someone who's signed an endorsement deal with Gargoyles...

I had Jackets for mountainbiking. They were great glasses. But I wouldn't wear them for normal use. They look dumb. On me that is.
After I got rid of my contacts and went back to wearing regular glasses I got rid of em for 50 bucks.

I bought E-Wires as my first pair of Oakley's. And got a lot of use out of them. I then bought a pair of Eye Jackets (all black) and then Eye Jackets (Black with iridium lenses) and eventually Oakley X-Metal Romeo's which I really like the design and strength of. The only downside of course is the lens. A year ago, I was out hiking with some friends and somebody wanted to take a photo. My wife insisted that I take off my glasses and though I hate it when people squint in photos, I did so. The photographer was such a hurry, that I put my glasses in my pocket without putting the cloth back on and scratched one of the lens. I haven't sent it in yet, but I'm dreading the replacement cost. Thankfully the body is very rigid. I've had to replace plastic arms twice on my Eye Jackets. Once was covered by warranty I believe.

There's a great article about Oakley and the man who started the company in the 7.12 issue of Wired that came out a few years ago. It's got a woman flying on the cover in black and white to color. And there's actually a photo in there of the company making the X-Men Cyclop's visor. Though at the time, not many people were aware that's what it was.
