Well, I wanted to make my first real crack at drawing a human. No model around so I decided I might as well jump the band wagon with all of you =). #4b pencil, mirror, 6 candles (4 left 2 right), and 1:45 later I have my first self portrait. Hopefully I'll improve as much as all of you have (WOW CHIANI)
C&C is highly encouraged, I'm very new to this. |

welcome to the thread. Feinam. yes you will be better and better. you catch the shape mostly. Keep focuse on light resouse. see where the shadow drop on your face. if the light from the top. The shadow will under the nose and under the buttom lips. and under the jaw.
Curtis: same message for you too. keep trying. you will see the improvement.
Lionel: great one. I like it. your hair look good at left side this time. _________________ Holly sprite |

Oh, and during my time watching this thread I've noticed that the finest artists are the ones who mix up angles and themes. If anyone has a suggestion of a mixup or an exercise that would help me out, please say so. |

Thanks Duracel!
Here's my thrid self portrait (2nd from a mirror)
Rolled out of my bed this morning, sat infront of the computer and started painting. about an hour.
Those horizontal lines came from me realsising near the end that it wasn't right because it was elongated in some sections. I thought I'd just bunch it up a bit and it instantly looked better.
What do you think? |

It's 03:40 in the morning!
My lord, thank god I don't have work today!
This one has taken me a solid four and a half hours of work!
Capt Fred : Nice portraits matey, you have a better understanding of colour than I do, hope to see more!
Daniel Lieske : What's wrong with your hand? I have a similar bandage around my arm from badminton strain! heh heh
ines : You don't really have a black line down your left eye do you?
Lionel : Liked that last one... very nice!

@ Shanx:
Oh, nothing wrong with my hand. I wear this glove (with thumb, index end middlefinger cut off) to gain smoother movement on the wacom. I use it since last summer (when my hands got wet and I couldnt produce a smooth line) and now Im somehow stuck to it. _________________ Que la fuerza te acompae! |

Daniel Lieske: Long time no see. That one looks awsome.
Shanx: Pity me it is already 12:30 and I HAVE work tommorow :/. That is a nice self portrait.
ebrian: Nice cartoony stye you have there
Capt. Fred: Your coloring is really good and your proportions seem acurate as good. If you stick with these I bet you will find your painting will improve quite rapidly.
cg: Thouse are very cool
Thee Phunk of Kale: The colors in taht are very cool but you eyes look a little flat good stuff
ines: That self portrait has a lovely background
Duracel: Another great sp (You landscapes have been rockin recently too)
ChiaNi: Thanks I really really hate hair I never know how to paint it :/.
Feinam: Well good luck these self portrats seem like a good way of improving if you stick with them
Curtis: When learning try not to do to many things at the same time. Rather than starting of with no ref and color try from a ref in black and white as taking on to much when you start learning can make the whole process much harder.
Btw Thanks to the person who AIMed me I acdiently closed the window and lost the message :/. I have a bad habit of leaving aim running even when I am not there so that was why I did respond .
I spent a long time on my drawing with this one and as usual I found it next to impossible to draw with the wacom :/ not that my real life drawing is that good :/. I quickly colored it in to hide my embarisment.

This one only took two hours of my life to create. I don't think I can ever be as good as you people.
I feel small and talentless, and yet inspired and driven each time I visit this thread.
Ines : That's a nice cute one Are you pouting? ;p
Lionel : I want to be as confident as you and just turn my opacity up and paint properly like that!
Capt. Fred : Only #5 and so much better than me already! Scum! hehehe, only joking...

Well, Im far behind. I got sick in january and then I got Gothic II and then I had work to do... and actually I still have...
ChiaNi: come on, keep posting, you still have to reach the 1000, no?
Duracel: I like yours and not only your selfportraits. you improve quickly.
I actually like a lot of pics in this thead.
This one is about 1h. I painted the color under the sketch. That is why it looks so rough...

this is for coustume thread. not finish yet. take me long time to paint it. Because I have to make up the backgrand and the light souse from my head. The refrence that I have is from poker card and some ducumentry pictures from my books.
I will call all the costume thread picture that done by me also call selfpotrait. Because I use myself to wear all the costume.
It have lot fun to paint these images. I always like to wear beautiful cloth. Painting the costume can feed my wish. My wish is hope that I can wear all the beautiful costume from the world. But I can't have all. So I paint.

Thanks for the kind words Chiani, but I still can't get it right...
I stare at your own work and I try to get the same colours to practice with my own face, but it doesn't work.
I am destined to wander around my own dark ineptitude.
I was a little drunk when this one happened. Only two hours again. So still faster than I have done before... Tell me where I am going wrong please!
Antx : I kinda like it with the lines still in. I like the way you do your hair...
