Hey all... I think I've only Posted here twice before so we'll call me a Noob.

Here's a piece I drew about 5 or 6 years ago that looked decent on paper in my sketchbook but I'm having some dificulty with it in on the PC.

Here's the Original Scan I changed the colors using the Gradient Tool so smoothe it out a bit..

Then I gave it a Blue Tint to mix it up a bit...

This is where I'm at for right now. I think there was a time yesterday when this looked good but that was a LOT of undo's ago.

Things Currently Bugging me are obviously: the Hand. and I think I took a left turn at LaLa Land when it came to the highlights. Especially the top pf her chest. For some reason I just can't seem to see how the light it supposed to hit her there... Oh and her lack of neck in the last one... Again.. I'm just having trouble visualising it...

Ah well, any help is appreciated...

-Jon

I love the original sketch. I would clean that up first before moving on to the other stuff.

I think the second version looks good. Why the black background?
You should work on the blue version. Use the color picker to select colors and draw over the areas that need to be cleaned up.
I hope you still have a copy of the image at that stage!?
Well ... that's what I'd do.
Use round brushes with different opacity.
I guess it won't be easy to fix the face now (adding a neck) but it'll be ok if you go on like that. It doesn't bother much.
If you make the shirt brighter the composition should work better ... but I guess you just didn't work on it at that stage.

I'm looking forward to seeing the next steps. Smile

u no, u could just take the second one, get rid of that crease in the center, and call that the final. In the third, whats up with the black bg an hair? I think u should leave em both blue or maybe have the bg white.

Thanks for the replies...

You know after looking at the 3 of them next to each other like this I think I agree... the 2nd one does look a lot better than the last one..
The Black Background kind of came around as an accident... I always try to see what a figure is going to look like with a few different colors playing off of it. it just so happened that I had the "hair" layer turned off and added a Black BG and thought she wouldn't look too bad with black hair... It was a shot in the dark... and looking at it... I think I missed....

Now to work out a way to get rid of the creaseses in the scanned pic...

I think I'll save a copy and move out from phase 2... I'll post some progress as it comes along..

First, I have to say this is a very good sketch (imho atleast). And, it has provided a few hours of fun during my attempts to color it.

Here is my variation of color, I hope you don't mind.
