First posting here!

Just finished this piece for Green Ronin.
Cover for a D20 source book about all kinds
of Halfbreeds. It's (supposed to be) a
Dwarf/Gargoyle fighting a Drow/Mindflayer.

James.

Very nice! Everything looks good but for some reason the left arm of the female seems a little short. Could just be me though. Looks great, keep it up!

Here's a close-up of the other character....

Thanks,

Great! Very Happy

Somehow the "Drow/Mindflayer" seems to be as close to the viewer as the "Dwarf/Gargoyle" thingie though
... it's supposed to be further away, right?

I only mention this because I had the impression that the fireball isn't aimed at the Gargoyle.
But because he is lit from the side (and not his front) I figured the fireball is supposed to be further away than is seemed.

Damn my English sucks. I guess this could be said in one sentence Rolling Eyes

I love the Dwarf/Gargoyle! Thanks for the close-up!

Hey everybody, this guy's James Rayman. He's a total bad ass, check out his web site!

Welcome, James. I'm glad to see you posting some of your outstanding work here.

I'm not sure if you remember, but I'm the guy Mike May asked you to hook up with Sal Q like a year or so ago. I never heard back from you, but I did eventually get in touch with Sal, so it's all gravy.....

Anyway, glad to see you around sijun. Keep posting. Smile

Take it easy,
Malachi

Thanks for the comments. Yeah, I guess I tried to bend the layout a bit so that I could show the front of both characters.

Your English seems fine to me!

-Malachi..
Yeah I remember sending your site to Sal.( I did, honest!) Sometimes, when he gets busy he does get a little unresponsive. Glad that you are in touch with him now though. I think your work is a great fit for SQP and MG Publishing.

Thanks for the welcome!

James.

Hoodz-

Thanks. The Batman pieces are great fun to do. I have a Clayface portrait to add to the set on my easel right now. I hope to finish it soon.

Good Job! Great details!

Some Points...

The colors are very soft, because of this your image lost impact. It looks not very dangerous nor dark whatever...

The form of the Fireball spell is way to basic, very oldschool.
I would change it... Looks uncool.

I like this a lot, and your site was great - I was surprised I hadn't heard of you before. Plus any fan of Biz... Wink

I have to say I disagree with Randis about the colour pallette - I find it appealing, and pretty appropriate considering it's a fantasy pic, as opposed to a dark/goth type image.

Anyway, good skills, keep it up!

You have truly fabulous stuff on your site! This one is nice too, except I think the fireball looks quite static. Taking off the ring and making the fireball smaller and to have a longer trail of fire might help. Or you could make the fireball just coming out of her hand and not being that complete yet. Then you might have the space to make the arm longer too.

Just my 2 cents. Now back to surfing your site. Cool
