hmm, talking to the artists here, i thought every one of us enjoyed what we're doing? that's why we're artists, we wanted to do what we loved...right?
i myself get depressed when i'm wasting time with friends..now that i think of it, going to a club or on a vacation depresses me too...because i'm wasting my life.. (but that's probably pushing it alittle ) the only time i'm seriously happy is when i'm doing art to achieve my "dreams"...
i'm not sure why you're putting them in different categories...what is it that depresses you when doing art?
Shizo: "I wanna be a freaking celebrity! God DAMN! "
that's funny. just try to dedicate your life to one thing, and only compare your work to people you admire the most and compete with them.
has anyone seen the cirque de soleil show? those bastards work 15 hours a day 5 to 6 days a week..one time i heard the director of the show say something like "don't expect to be working here and having a normal life at the same time." there's no substitude for working very hard. talent and skill always come second. |

Hey, [Shizo], don't give up
In the whole world there are a few people only who like their job. For example a few years ago I've been dreaming about having job I've got now. And now it's just a job like many others. I just do it for making some amount of "exchange equivalent".
If you like anything - do not let to turn it into a job unless you work only for youself and not for a boss. But even in this case you have to maintain proportion - do not work too much Otherwise you will have to take a kind of very big vacation and rest until you will be starting sick when you even think of rest or any other option than work
In russian there is a saying "The good place is the one where we aren't..." That means that if you hate you current job or position and like painting and will become a professional painter then in most cases you will feel the same about this job
What about girlfriends it's almost all the same They usually come to you when you don't really want them and otherwise... when you want them very much there are no available girls besides you But then again you don't want them they come again looking for you
For example before this new year I've been single again and started to meet with one of my very old GFs and I'm happy with her now But today I've got several other GFs sending me Valentines... where have they been before?! ![Rolling Eyes](images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif) _________________ CyberLink | paully.com |

Yeah thanx Cyber, i know of that saying quite well :0
But i think you're just forgetting how good you have it. For example i compare my current job with McDonalds, and well, it's much better
But the boredom and lameness of it makes me believe that making games or music for money will make me happier.
I'm working on stuff now though, so hopefully i'm gonna come to SOMETHING in a few months or so. |

Not at all... anyway let's see That's a mans feature to bounce
I'm a master at business administration and economics science. Now working with some modelling stuff as my next scientific job for a doctor degree. Have been studying all that stuff for about 7 years already. And... I can tell you that money (and anything els) is a point just until you get enough.
There is a special case for men about the revenues and profit. Basically it sounds like "the more you get the less you want..." On the paper you can draw a hyperbolic graph with revenue(y)/efforts(x) dependency and it will look like a 90 degrees CCW rotated according to the genric grpah.
On that graph there is a point that is on the most right position of the graph that is a peak effort. At that point men according to his psychologic nature reaches so called "revenue effect". He tries to find a place with higher revenue and less effort while nefore he was ready to make more effors for more salary.
That's is true for most of cases not only about money and for everybody. Anyone is mistaken thinking that it is not true about him just because everybody has his own "revenue effect" point
Each man define his attitude and it much depends on a culture and religious points
Once you will get your paid in full, challenging, full of interest, creative... (continue as you wish) job and then you will have ony one choice to become more and more lazy day by day until you get new motivation point that will make you to stay on this job or you will slow down and wont work with such a good feeling about the job.
That probably explains why its in many cases hard for creative people to make their creative things for money not just for youself...
On the graph below you can see two points. The dark yellow - 6000 EUR a month for a 8 hour a day job and a red one - 6300 EUR for the same. In 99% cases if you are in the yellow point you will refuse the offer to move to the red point. 300+ EUR a months minus tax do not make much sense if you have a good job already? Numbers are just for example.

Haha excellent! I'm out of that hole, that was sh*t how i felt.
But now i moved to a new place, everything is pretty good, i have plans and they're going ok. However there are some new problems. Those new problems i just shake off, you know? I just kinda go to sleep when new problems come up.. hehehe.
Anyways, i'm at new place with no internet. But that was my plan, so i wouldn't get sucked into browsing the web and checking forums when i'm trying to do something productive. So far i'm just adapting to a new life. Loading guns and counting up my ammunition.. getting permission to fire! LOL
Yea, how goes it? |
