Ok I just bought a wacom graphire 2 4x5...
Is it just me or does the movement "lag" for everyone?
i'm using:
amd 1.8ghz
512 ddr ram
radeon 9700 128mb

I see no reason for the tablet to lag...I can run pretty much everything. Well...hafta wait for doom3 before i say that : )

like when i use the pen to trace lines, it kinda just suddenly stops and jumps to the next spot...like a hiccup i guess
Any ideas how to fix this? or is it just built like this?

The fault lies definetly NOT in the wacom hardware. Every wacom I used until now was able to produce perfect smooth movement of the cursor.

I sometimes experience lagging when there's a download in the background or when somebody is tranfering heavy loads of date to or from my computer via LAN.

If you are not aware of any processes that could cause data transfer I suggest you scan your computer for adware or viruses that could produce such traffic. You could use Adaware to do this. I for example hosted a bunch of client processes on my machine for weeks without even knowing about it.

haha the question does not lie in the use of your wacom, but the size of your image and at what resolution your using it at.

large brushes tend to slow things down along with the use of the new brush engine in photoshop.....or even athe brushes in painter 7.

you may think your system is loaded and fast....

there are quite a few things that you can do to improve how your computer responds in photoshop, or paint programs in general.

LOTS OF RAM. 512 isnt a whole lot.

you should defragment your harddrive at least every 2 to 3 weeks, to keep things in order.

set your windows paging file to another harddrive if possible.

crank up how much resources pshop uses....that can be found in preferences....

make sure all your drivers are updated....with all of your components....video card, bios, sound card, tablet, mouse, etc.

theres tons more but i have to go at the moment, im sure others will explain in greater detail.
