i was wondering if there was any indepth one...and also one that teaches you the technique where the lines get thicker at some point and thinner at other points (cuz i have no idea when or where to use thick/thin lines)

any help will be appreciated thanks

Hello

I had also that question earlier when I joined last year in this forum. I asked some people in here which are really good at inking and coloring the comics -style.

This is how I do and I think it works pretty good, I am not a pro and I dont ink so much all the time now cause I have found that it is very good to get the right handle on the sketching tecnique first. Smile :

First I use a thin ink pencil (lets say 01) and fill in the contour and all details with the same thin ink pencil. Then am I using the 03 ink pencil to fill up the contour and notice, only the contour.
(Then you can use even a thicker ink pencil to add shadows. Lets say that the lightsource is from left then will the Contour lines to the right be thicker, only on some parts thou.) * I used the Parenthesis cause I am not so found of this shadow thing with the ink.

One more thing: Things that are closer to the viewer is thicker, with the ink I mean. So if you have a character that you are drawing whose hands are pointing towards you, then will his hands contour be the thickest contour on your ink-drawing.
So detail 01, Contour 03, pointing hand 05. or shadows 05, remember these are just tips for pencils that I use.

I am adding a picture too ( one of my latest ink pictures), on this one is the detail made with a 01 ink pencil and the contour 03. I hope you can understand my english and that it was some helpful tips in here. Smile
If anyone thinks that I am wrong feel free to give me comments and tips on my inking tecniques.

have a nice day
Matthew
