Thanks Max! I'm glad I inspired you because that's one nice painting you posted Smile

Sukhoi, thanks dude!

Gecko, nice grasp of form, I'm impressed!

Tim Davis, I like the second pic

HPX, great pic! I would like to see slightly more definition on the chin, looks a bit like double chin now if you know what I mean Wink

Spooge, I like how you played around with the lighting on the face! One small crit though, I couldn't tell immediately what's happening on the dress area..

Matthew, very inspiring picture.. love the colours and the value range is very relaxing for eyes.. I couldn't continue with my daily routines without doing this:

Glad you liked the acrylic. Hmm. Seem to like it better than the oils...

It is done from life, I have a painting session in my own studio, and I have 4-6 others over to cover the model fee. Works out for everyone. BG, her foot fell asleep and had to be moved, and the dress went into these strange and totally different shapes after every break. That's one of the fun things about working from life. If I was working from my head the way I usually do, I would have an easier time of it. You can get confused between what you see, what makes sense (in this pose and during this break session) and what you have the time to do. Very challenging.

In the end, I just made up some nonsense with the dress hoping that the pretty red would carry the day.

Spooge, I have found it easier to dilute the acrylics with water. I think its a little bit easier to control the colors that way, thou I cant achieve any master pieces with the acrylics but I am going to. Smile

Bg, thank you. Smile I think yours is supergreat. Im glad I could be a source of inspiration. Smile Think that this theme can be used for more pictures, great idea with your apple. Smile
I have big problems with painting trees, something I have to work on. Smile

peace and a nice weekend

Matthew: I was going to comment on your last one too, but wanted to finish this one first befor I post. Bg was faster and saves me some words now. However I think this one is the one I like most of your pictures so far. I see that you are very shy with contrast and saturation. Try from time to time ctrl-shift-L (autolevel). This shows you how far away you are from 100% contrast. This might kill your colors but for contrast and saturation it is a good check. Im not saying that the contrast has to be 100% like in the autolevel version but it helps to give a clue.
The mountains could be less flat too. Your guy has light on the left side so it would be normal if the mountains would have a similar shading. Look at Bgs pic.
And for the tree, I think this is not something you should be worried about. I like the tree. Rather try to give the floor some depth somehow.
(I really wonder what is on the line that the guy is holding. (dragon? Baloon?))

I could now give comments to all the other ones here but I just leave it to that: Great work everyone!!!

Okay, here one more from me. Not really SP anymore since around 2h, but it fits here most and not worth a new thread:

spooge: love that tank.
i've been watching that "band of brothers" serie for the last three days. damn it's amazing how they've kept an awesome image quality for a serie.
these episodes are very successful on so many points....

ok, I made a picture so I could answer antx. Smile
Thank you for the comments antx, about the end of the line, yeah a dragon would be cool, but when I painted it I was thinking that someone else is controlling the environment...uhmm...now Im not sure what I meant really...hehe. Smile I tried out more contrast on my latest but somehow I screwed it up.

inspired by spooges war theme

cheers
Matthew

hi intuos. i haven't posted filtered photos, but filtered paintings (references used, didn't trace). i'm sorry, i didn't know that filters are known as viagra for artists or something like that. i try to avoid them next time. hope my postings weren't that annoying to you Rolling Eyes . i'm still new and try to learn.

heh spooge, if you look at the dead guy in your last pic, you can see a really small german general looking guy having a hard time trying to crawl up the tank. Imagine his top part as his hat, and the guys hand as a foot. It works perfectly.

ChiaNi -- Thank you! Yeah, today was horrible, but it was quite beautiful. I usually see across the river to Hissingen from my window, but today I could barely see the next house =)

firefreak: Hey, don't take it too serious.
I like your images. Really!
And the filter effect makes them alot more interesting to me!
Filters aren't bad.
If you know ( and you do I think ) how to use 'em they are powerful tools!
There are no rules in art. And if you have the possibility to use filters and stuff use them in a wise way like every other tool - you did - so you haven't done anything wrong.
If you like filters use them. Have fun with your art - that's important!
Keep on! Smile
