Peace, love and understanding...That's all i want.
Bah, i don't eaven know what i'd like for christmas myself. I shudder at the thought of having to find presents for my family...
Wathever, something that use to work well is small cheramic sculptures. There are a lot of funny figures if you look in the right store. Try to find something that reflects the personality of the reciever... |

A couple of years ago on one christmas my girlfriend bought the ILM book, a pair of supercool Puma shoes, Golden eye(the N64 game) and the Starwars trilogy and gave it to me as gifts. It just felt wrong...
I felt like a greedy bastard when i handed her my gift.
The things i appreciate the most is things that are made by that person..Something that makes it more personal.
-A card, drawing, a small sculpture or something.I love stuff like that. But that's just me though.
Good luck!

I'd be extremely happy if someone could get me the complete set of DVDs of Star Trek Original Series. But that's just me.
Personally, I think guys would be happy if you buy them videos or DVDs of the films they like. |

Find something that would pertain to their interests/hobbies/etc. The general random present usually doesn't work. I want a bike and bigger wacom for christmas. |

I think you might be onto something there Vesuvius. Jezebel, for your boyfriend, you should get yourself some nice lingerie!
Radiater.
Ps. Like I said elsewhere, I still think tools or other small gadgets for you brother and father would work. |

Christmas is coming up fast and I have several guys on my Christmas list, including my boyfriend, my dad and my brother.
I need to know what kind of gifts guys like to receive. I'm completely stuck. Men are impossible to shop for. It seems like all they want are expensive gifts (like electronics) that I can't afford. It's not fair, grr.
So what are the cheaper gifts that guys like to get?
Help. |

I have to agree with radiator on this one... I would looove if my girlfriend had bought new lingerie for herself as a christmas gift for me... that'd be coo.
I usually buy a lot of jewlery for people though... I'm a sort of ring fetischist myself, and I want everybody else to be too, so I know a fantastic shop in stockholm that make their own AMAZING rings... and other general silver things, so I usually get something from there for my brother and mom...
this year though I have the luck of living in dublin, meaning that I can get a bottle of 12 year old whiskey with my fathers name engraved on the label for about 50 iep... |

I don't think you can give a general answer to that.
But when thinking of the perfect present i thought about fantasy schemes. Think of the the one you want to give a present to as the hero. In a fantasy story the hero would be given gifts that he will really need on his journey; the baker will give him bread, the blacksmith a sword and armor, the mage a magic wand or scroll, the alchemist a potion of healing....you get the idea. So think about, what do you have to offer, that is special connected to your person and will be of (any sort of) use for the presentee. If this doesn't work you can either think about items they need/want, which you can buy or something personal.
Since you have the ability to draw and paint, that should be an option. Non-artists always feel some magic in a painting that was made especially for them. As a side-effect you can show off those presents here...
Hope this gives you some ideas. |

Hmm for your boyfriend, I am sure you can come up with some cool ideas.
For the rest of the men in your life, well best bet buy them a gift certificate to Best Buy or some electronic store. That way they get what they want. |

well guys do like sex so that fixes your boyfriend afterall how romantic to make love on the lords b-day. As for your bro and dad, my motto is try to buy something you can use instead of meaningless junk, but then again I guess if you can spare money for junk then go for it. |

i also just can say what i want to have.
normally, i am happy when i get what i would like to buy at the moment. so this xmas, it'll be an artbook by shinkawa.
what i really want is someone who understands me. that one girl. someone to love, to care for, to laugh with, to talk to... to just make everything. |

It's simple soap on a rope, socks, or gift certificates....
Buy a gift of lingerie you buy a gift for two
I had no idea what to get my b/f (and I had ask his friends to get on him to find out) so I'm taking him on a small vacation in January just to get out of town and in the city we are going there's a store he loves so I'm going to let him pick what he wants... |

Ha, ha, I got that last year.
If you're talking like $50 or under "cheap", I would go with something like a DVD, video, video game, or maybe a bottle of cologne or something along those lines.
If you're talking like $30 or less, I would go with a CD, maybe some gloves if it gets cold where they live, or maybe a nice coffee table book about a subject that interests them.
Hope this helped. =/

Jabberwocky, I'm gonna go out on a limb here, but I don't think ANY guy want's soap on a rope for Christmas.
Guys do like little gadgets though. Maybe a nice electric shaver?

I walked past this shop yesterday (unfortunately it's in Ireland but you should have something like it) www.gadgetshop.com
They had a TON of meaningless gadgets and toys in there... and I do mean a TON... so check it out, you might find something cool
Now I have a question though...
My girlfriend (who lives in America) is coming to visit me (in Sweden) over new years... what in the heck should I get her for christmas? Thing being, there's more than likely an engagement in the cards at christmas as well (woot)... so how would you girls like this done? Present and proposal that is...

Pat - I'm sure guys in prison might like soap on a rope so they don't have any dropping the soap problems.
I give my uncle soap on a rope as a stocking stuffer every year. He cuts it off the robe though... I get it for him as a joke ... really long story behind that. |

I have an opposite problem, I never know what to tell people I want...cause I'm so bleeding content. I have no problems finding things to buy others though. On top of whatever else you get, you could always do some art for him. |

I think it all depends on what he likes...
Music used to be a good idea, and then MP3s came along. Games cater to a certain group of people and that isn't everybody's thing. DVDs and movies are kind of risky if you don't know what movies the person likes. I just ask the person what they would like so I can be sure that they get what they want. Then again, some of the more shady people I know would be content with bottle of Malibu or a Mini Keg of Heineken...
