How about a cartoon thread - not comics - New Yorker Mag type cartoons. Here's my start offering... hardly acceptable to the New Yorker
Flat... you must have some stuff to show

Philip those are cool. That first one is grody. Were they actually used in the New Yorker? I have to admit, a lot of times I don't get their cartoons. But I'm a pinhead, as this example will show...
In between bouts of auto-analingus, our cats sometimes do this:

Francis... Like your cartoon.. LOL
nope..., not in the New Yorker. I think those are a bit too hot for the NY. I did try for sometime to get a cartoon into the NY... never made it. At that time they were paying $500 for a cartoon. Don't know what it is now, but most mags pay a whole lot less than that, so my cartoon career was relatively brief. Computer Shopper paid pretty well - $200. Here's one that was published in it when LANs for small companies were still rather new.

Great stuff Phil.
That first one's hysterical! Love the one of the guy with the bedpan on his head. Too funny.

One of my personal favorites...
To understand it, you had to be using PC's during the DOS days in the 80's

Yep... that's funny Matthew...
Most of the one's I've shown were either done in pencil or ink and then scanned.
Finer... never got one into Playboy, but a number of other "lesser" mags. _________________ HonePie.com

eyewoo - I love the meatloaf one. Especially the mother.
Great idea for a themed thread btw.
Matthew - Yes! I too think it's funny! I didn't get the first cartoon you posted though
oDD - Great one! Was that for the hard times for noobs (or something like that) thread? I didn't remember it.
An older one. Hope it qualifies.

hehe..haha, yours is super AndyT.
Thanks for the feedback AndyT and eyewoo.
The first one was gonna be a big guy who was chasing the little guy but somehow the joke didnt turn out that great at all .
See if I can do some more cartoons later.
peace

I would imagine getting a cartoon spot in Playboy would be even harder than getting one in the New Yorker.
But still not as hard as getting a full page feature for say....... a pin-up painting.
I'm knockin' bitches, open the door..... um.... I mean..... Great work there Phil.

HoodZ... they're 10-12 years old, so I don't remember them all...
Computer Shopper bought some... A current affairs mag in Boston bought some... some forgotten cartoon mags bought some... I sold a number of them to a Court Reporting firm that ran a cartoon post card ad campaign... etc.
It was a hard living, so I moved on... _________________ HonePie.com
