so this is the non-digital art thread thread : D
I'd LOVE to see some more non-digital paintings here, and judging from some discussion on this site, so would you all.

I'm as new to painting non-digitally as I am to painting digitally but all the same, here are my few pics. These three pics represent my first, third and fourth paintings I've done since I was about 12, and the first, third and fourth oil paintings I've ever done.

Mmm... texture: http://www.stidston.org/freddie/images/portrait_woman_high.jpg

If you've got any traditional media pics, post 'em! especially (but not only) if they're paintings Very Happy

Nice studies Capn Fred!. I did these awhile back when I was learning to paint with acrylics. The first one I used ref from Boris and the second I used ref from Brom. Hope you likes!

Hello

Some nice stuff you all have there. I have also just started with Acrylic and this is my second attempt to fumble around with the Acrylics. They are so cool and it is super nice how fast they are drying.
Dont think that my scans are doing my original 100% justice, any tips on how to scan the Acrylics so that the color looks better?

Nice work everyone! (excluding me).
I can't remember if I've tried acrylic - If I did it sure didn't leave as lasting an impression on me as oils did.
And swarm: Wonderful cool!

This is an acrylic painting I did in art class, while in high school.

I found it among the other zillions traditional forgotten ones that are tucked away. I hadn't seen it for a while so it was fun to look at for me.

I think the assignment was sto go out and do a sketch of some setting, and then take it back and from there do a painting.

anyways, it is just a forgotten acrylic.

here is a "monochromatic timbre" as my color theory teacher calls it. it was pretty fun to paint. one of my friends inspired me with his titles, so i present to you 'Sasquach Orange No.1'

Maybe it is just me, but I like everyones non digital stuff better than the digital. Much more fun to look at.

heres some 30 min drw from yesterday, and a digital painting that I redid in oil. Scan is not accurate. very contrasty.

From my airbrushing days using torn sugar-paper as a stencil:

And a mixture of airbrush, charcoal and guoache:

Craig, I agree with you on the traditional art stuff. I am still debating with myself whether to go full time traditional or digital. The former makes my blood rush, the latter, really doesn't give me much pleasure. I am stuck in a dilemma.

I think that second head is very pleasing to look at, in my opinion, very "sargentian".

It is fun to see a translation of a digital painting into a color and and value restricted traditional, very educating to see how you translated the visual information from one media to another.

I think this is a pre high-school acrylic, its my brother's horse. He used to take me and my sketchpad to the stable and tournament quite alot back then. But this is done back home.

Awesome work by everyone! Very Happy

Pierre, you've posted some wonderful stuff! really nice.
And spoog demon, your sketches are amazing! I always feel like a poo when I see other people define edges with one fine line, no guessing or incorrct judgement, just laying down the lines correctly first time. Yeah.

Here're some more from me. They're ones from my art classes. I'm looking at Eaun Uglow, artist, very cool. Making some studies of his pictures to get used to his style for a 'final piece' which will be a portrait from life of someone that I will paint in his style.

Long live the non-ditgital art thread! Very Happy

I haven't done any traditional work for years now. These are old ones from early 90's:

Mixed medium

watercolor

Pen/Ink from my comic book days.

Really old ink/watercolor Appleseed fan-art from my anime days(summer of high school graduation).
