Ok, here they are again. I will get more up as I scan them...Character for a game, a concept shot, a room interior for a game, and a statue design for a mortuary. I did this sketch for a sculptor down here in San Diego. The statue is going to be 24' tall and sit on a 10' cubed square plot, that will be divided into something like 60-100 plots for people to be buried under...pretty cool assignment...

Ok so the concept painting didnt come through. I spelled the name out in all caps and I have to change that apparently...

Anyway, again, fire away with comments, crits, what have you.

Fred

I especially liked the last one, although the coloring and anatomy on the first one are very well done (even if ugly as hell Razz). The cloth wrinkling on the last one is just very good and I love the thick inked outlining, even if its for such a depressing purpose. its very fitting, both sombre but hopeful. i very much like the style.

Very cool stuffs d00d - a few here I have not seen before. I don't think you have any problems doing architecture.

There's something about all the different ice colors in that one image that catches my eye. What's your self crit on that one?

Thanks for the comments and crits all. I have limited time to type right now so I have to shorten what I write...so Thank you everyone, here are a couple answers to questions...

First-Francis, I have problems with all different colors of the snow and ice, but I really never solved what one I wanted to use. If you check out some of the images of the Arctic, there is actually a lot of dirty snow everywhere along the coastline, making the scenery less monotonous looking. But I dont think it would have reached as high as I put the colors...

ZippySquirrelnut-yes I worked on whacked. I was there for a little over half the games life, then left for Angel studios...

Solar C-they all started traditional but ended up digital for final presentation.

Sup_Ben-the surfer is a self portrait:)

Simoon-thank you also, that image is 100% charcoal. I wish I had time to ink it, that would have made for such a crazy image. This thing is drawn on a 24 x 36 sheet of paper, as is the whacked arena, the mayan image...

Thanks again, gotta get back to work...

wooooooow,
damn fred, everything is gorgeous !
the selfportrait: really like the design and story/details to it. The idea putting a tourist photo in a painting style is neat. The only thing bothering me is his shadow, it got pretty much texture compared to the rest of the sand. IMHO the blur
seems to be on one single layer, shouldn't there be more graduations of the blur effect? ( especially the sand is cutted apart in : blured and not blured.)
hope you know what I mean and that this wasn't too picky.

I dig this little thumbs of the enviroments, do you have them in larger size? (have to check your site) Really like the simple but fitting colors.
To be honest I don't like the rastafarian that much and the snowscene seems a bit oversaturated.

Silber-thanks for your honesty. I like to know what works for people and what doesnt. Glad to hear some negative. The blur in the background of the Surf Kook, A character design for TWS SUrf Game for PS2, was actually blurred down at many different levels. Then I blurred between the blurs. But, the problem is, put too many blur contours in the image, and it starts to feel cut up and distracting. But, I agree, it could be done a bit more contrasty. The rastafarian was just a head study for our character in the game also, but he changed. He acquired the typical tam garb of the rastas...

juhis_r-thank you again for your kind words. I wrote over in the other thread some book suggestions and such...thanks again for your comments and crits...
