Took a while to complete this. Especialy since the PSD file is over 111mb in size. (My poor beaten computer)
Al Ian Witch
I took alot of advice from alot of people to complete this. I am very happy with it in general. Probably the most pivital piece of advice was to indent the eyes and make them semi reflective. I finaly feel like the eyes in my art will have life instead of looking like dead lifeless dolls.

As allways, any further C&C will not only be heard, but probably tried. Be brutal! (only way to learn) Even if its on the style of the art! _________________

I love it. Especially the arms and legs (I hope that doesn't make me a weirdo )
The only thing that seems strange now is the light on the dress. Seems a little like white paint imho! Maybe the color of the dress should be changed or appear somewhere else in the picture ( stars or lips ). Maybe it's just me and it's nitpicking but i think there's one color too much in the palette (or one that doesn't fit). Maybe it'll look great without the white? _________________ http://www.conceptworld.org |

Baugh, thanks to AndyT again, I am back to work LOL(jk)
I agree, however, I cant figure out how to make the light on the cloathes look like light. It always looks like paint or what not. I like purple on my wife, but it dosent match the remainder of the image. A blue would probably be more appropriate. The light is supposed to be green in origine, I didnt pull that off very well now that I take a look at it. And the purple is way to ritch of a color compared to the rest of the image I think. Pretty color, but gaudy in the composition it seems.
I'm still working on this whole painting with a shotty mouse thing down LOL.
I also need to increase the contrast and darken it a bit (to match the eyes) whitch I'll do with my next final version LOL. _________________

OK, heres another update. I am getting much better at painting with a mouse. And I LOVE not using the burn/dodge tool. Takes some getting used too, but its so much more rewarding!!!!!!!!!
Al Ian Witch Final v2.0
Redid the overalls completley. Also corrected the contrast/brightness to what was intended.

Al Ian: Hey, Ive been thinking about your work here for a while.. Ive watched you post tons of these little cartoon characters and I think your style is getting stronger and stronger.. I have one thing I would like to say tho... and I hope you dont take it the wrong way.
While you have a very interesting tyle of making characters.. it almost feels like you arent venturing beyond the limits of the style.
Id personally love to see some current work from you that isnt this particular style. Id like to see what you've been learning and put it towards, say, a more realistic painting/image.
I guess what im saying is dont get stuck in this style just because some people are giving you praise for it... try new stuff. even if the relpies arent there.
I sincerely hope you dont take all this the wrong way, Ive been watching your art develop and seen your understanding of line and anatomy progress.. but watch out that you dont limit yourself.
kudos. |

Awetopsy - I understand where you are comming from. I used to draw comic book style art alot. However it was to violent to draw or work on with the kids around. Thats why I developed this cartoon style work. (Due to many lost arguments with my wife lol.) I still ocasionaly go back and draw that style of art while I'm at work. At home however my little girl sits over my shoulder when I draw/paint.
I have been however attempting to do "real life" art. Unfortunatly, I suck at it I've not taken any art classes before, so its a bit of a struggle. Course I cant wait to see the day I can draw my kids and they actualy LOOK like my kids
For the most part, yeah I got stuck doing this style.
Erm... I think I just rambled on, and on, and on... and on....... (shaking my head) its way to early to be thinking.
Thanks for the input
Everybody Else - Rock on!! Thank you for the info... gonna go check out the other witch now! _________________
