Just wondering:

What the hell is the difference between the 32 version and the regular version? Does the 32 mean 32 bit? If so, what the HELL does that really mean, why is it important enough to warrant a whole different version?

Personally, I don't like the newer regular versions because I can no longer just select a bunch of thumbnails and hit ctrl+R to rotate all of them at once. The newer versions have more powerful photo-enhance modes, but that means nothing to us photoshop gurus.

So, I stick with 32 v2.4. I love my ctrl+R for rotating portrait shots after a photo-session.

Speaking of which, I have newer photography sessions I need to upload. Will let you guys/girls know when it's up.

Yep. Just pick an image in browser mode, hold down shift and click on the pair of little eyes icon.

You can also just open ACDSee into as many copies as you like.

Dammit, dr. No more lesbos for you. Stop drooling.

i know! acdsee's newer version is compleatly useless. sure they added a bunch of online features, but thats not nothing to brag about. plus, the trial version window that pops up every 5 seconds is really annoying. i just stick with the older version, its much simpler to use.

Luna, speaking of your photography, would it be possible for you to maybe do a tutorial on lighting? I'm thinking of taking up photography and this whole issue seems like an incredibly daunting one... Just a little bit about what kind of lights, and placement and so on =)

and also, are the same results achievable with a digital camera or is a normal film camera the only way to go?

monkey, i aggree with you, I still have the 1999 version of ACDsee and been using it since,

but one very anoying thing about it is that the damn program crashes about every 5 min,

i guess thats still reliable for a program that was designed for Win98

i prefer the "classic" version of acdsee.
it doesn't have the shell stuff (the paintshopro like), but it has the great ctrl R command, which does a mathematical 90 rotation of the picture. I believe it's the only soft wich does a mathematical rotation of a jpeg (it doesn't recompress the image a second time after the rotation, so the quality is better), and it's more stable than the new "i do everything" acdsee.

Ey Shizo, where have you been ? Didn't see ya comin' in

Yeah I can wholeheartedly recommend IrfanView, best of it is it's FAST has a cool full-screen mode and the weirdest name of all graphics utilities.

There ya go. I've broken my resolve to never post in Random Musings again.

Shizo- I downloaded Irfanview. It's pretty cool. I'm going to give it some time and see if I can get used to the interface. I don't know if seperating windows for viewer and thumbnail browser is good or bad. Time will tell. It's slower than ACDSee, but that's understandable, since it's not backed by some big company who hires engineers. Can't complain since it's FREE.

Thanks for the tip.

I gave Irfanview a shot, and it's not as convenient as ACDSee. I can't select a bunch of images and rotate them all at once. It doesn't open up in browser mode--I have to hit T to get to browser mode. In fullscreen mode, it goes to the next image about half a second after I hit PAGE DOWN, where in ACDSee, it's instantaneous. Another thing that bugs me is that I can't delete an entire directory folder--I can only delete the images in the folder.

Oh well. I gave it a shot. Broadened my viewing experience.

umm if you pressed B you'd have discovered the wonders of irfan's batch processing.. you can delete folders if you want if you go Open or Save as
you can batch scan, write stuff in HEX, apply Photoshop's effects and a ton other stuff if you want to download specific plugins from the site.

so i suggest you try it again

Will try again.

I have more cracked versions of ACDSee than I can shake a stick at. Thanks.
