Is it just a guy that makes pics for a game etc.. or does he actually brainstorm and put stuff on paper, from which the company picks what they like ?

They come up with concepts for a game (brainstorming) and put it on paper (with markers for example) and the company picks the ones they like ... ? It there a contradiction?
Of course there are also concept artists working on movies, vehicles and so on...
I think pictures that actually appear in games are in general not done by concept artists. Maybe by illustrators? I guess mostly 3d models are done after the concept art. _________________ http://www.conceptworld.org |

A concept artists works out designs before they are being realized - that works for games, movies and a whole bunch of other things like themepark rides or cars.
A concept artist usually works with a production designer or art director, depending on the project. His task is to visualize their ideas and concepts in a way that decisions can be made - meaning that the production can go ahead with realizing it. _________________ http://baustaedter.com/ |
