If you guy's haven't seen "Amelie", then your really missing out. Its one of the best foreign films I've ever seen. Directed by Jean - Pierre Jeunet of "Delicatessan" & "City of the Lost Children" fame.

Should any of you have seen it, please post your opinions on the film. I'd like to hear other people's opinions.

Mr. Magritte and Duracel, I'd have to agree with the both of ya. I love the way the narrator talks about each of the characters likes and dislikes. The part with Garden Gnome traveling around the world was pretty classic too.

That film is simply great. From an artistic point of view is magnificient, great colours, compositions, etc. Great music too. Great acting.

In fact, I was amazed by the girl's eyes.

Ragnarok, I was also very impressed with those eyes. They could say so much like that lady who starred in the silent film "The Passion Of Joan of Arc", although in a less meloncholy fashion.

Oh yeah totally. The Soundtrack is a must if you liked the movie.
Btw, is the movie called just "Amlie" in the US ? The original title is "Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amlie Poulain" (the fabulous destiny of Amlie Poulain). And in the UK it's "Amlie From Montmartre". </infoclut>

Cheers. I'm going to see it again if it's still showing. weeh I love Jeunet's work. Great guy too. And he did direct Alien 4 as well....

Simply beautiful! But it made me feel very melancholic and a little lonely...but maybe that helps change that.

well, i saw it twice when it came out, here in Paris. and i can't wait for the DVD version to come out. i have the soundtrack too, by Yann Tiersen and it's as amazing as the movie is, if not more so. but the music alone, when not offset by the charisma of Audrey Tautou/Amlie is a very melancholic affair. i feel blue every time i hear the "Amlie waltz"... anyway, great film. great actors. great music... and i do know people who didn't like the movie BTW.

Oh nice to see that our favourite movie here in France pleases other countries !

I've seen the US trailer...it's crazy how it can be different from the french one

Things are not told the same way, and it make me laugh to compare when you know the french version......

Anyway, that movie makes your heart full of light, and everybody needs that !

I think Amilie or Brotherhood of the wolf will get best foreign film at the Oscars.

What did you all think of the Brotherhood of the wolf?

I saw it an a monday during my week off and totaly loved the combination of intregue and action, i thought it would be the best film i was going to see that week, But then on tuesday i saw amilie and wow!! that would be the best film i saw all week(saw 5 other hollywood "blockbusters" Blegh!)

Egerie,

The movie is just called "Amelie", here in the U.S. The crime is that its only playing at one theatre here in all of greater Loa Angeles. Anyway, I've seen it twice so I've had my fill.

Same prob here in Germany, only some cinemas show this great film.

Btw, In German the film is called "Die fabelhafte Welt der Amlie" translated something like -> "The fantastic world of Amlie" ...hmm, fantastic isn't the right word, but there is no better one if you translate it.

Maybe rather "fabulous" or "marvelous" than "fantastic"...

To the Europeans, I was crusing around Amazon France and saw that they are coming out with a book on the movie. If I read correctly, its supposed to be a kind of photo album. Is this book out now or is it still in the making? If it is out, is it any good? As far as I know the book won't be released here in the U.S.

Trailer looks goodly, shall be checking this one out.
