I recently got a digital tablet (Aiptek hyperpen 12000) for christmas, and I am begining to lose my mind. I've never used a digital tablet before, and the difference between it and my traditional pen / pencil and paper is overwhelming.

So, all of you experienced gurus out there, what is the best way to get started drawing with one of these?

And does anyone have any personal experience with both Aiptek and Waacom tablets? Because I would really like to know why the Waacom's are almost $200 more for the same size tablet, even though the specs appear to be the same.

Thanks,
Guy

The best way to start is to draw a grid (not neccessarily with the tablet). Then take your tablet and try to draw a little cross to where the lines of the grid meet. When you feel comfortable with that, try to draw a little circle around each cross you drew. Buah Smile

Well, other than that, just experiment with it. What I mentioned is a rather good "very beginner" practice to do. Once get the feel to it that way, then try drawing. It is a rather different method than pencils or paints or so, but after you get your coordination at place the next best thing to do is just to doodle a lot with it to get the feel to it. Nobody can really teach you how to do it, you just have to try it out yourself.
