i've been looking around for a camo ensemble.. just the pants and a t-shirt. found a military store who says they carry new/used pants from various countries.. but i figure if they sell used pants they must be official ones - thick and whatnot for real combat. does anyone know what these are like (i haven't seen them, too lazy to go to the store). are they good for street wear?

i was hoping i wouldn't have to resort to artifical ones, since artifical things generally suck. looks like i may have to though.

"Official" is the way to go. A pair of pants will last you ten years, and the Cold Weather coat is one of my warmest pieces of apparel, even if it's just a shell and a liner.

You want thick material, preferably a cotton-nylon blend. If you feel the fake camo you can buy at, for example, Hot Topic, you'll notice a definite difference.

Expect to pay about 50 bucks for new, quality cargo pants. Also, keep in mind that "official" military pants doesn't really mean anything; they all come from independent civilian contractors anyways, which means that you can also look at hunting and sporting goods stores for deals.

Haha.. There is no camo clothing, real or fake, that will protect you from the ghetto. No matter how witty the camouflage pattern is, you shall be found out and shot before you can walk out of the doors of your ghetto apartment.

Hot topic was featuring a pair of metal underwear last week, it might protect you against small calibet bullets.

After you break them in, they're great. You might consider getting a size larger than what you normally wear, for extra comfort. That's up to you.

hmmh ages ago i bought a bunch of russian combat camos.. dunno what ya call it, the thick dry sort.. they went through a 6 hour paintball match in the forests and swamps and i had nothing to complain about them.. they don't look too street creditable, though they certainly have the 'lord rock of klf on top of his apc for aaa photos' look to them. dull earth tones, boring tones, nothing flashy. i like them.

i also bought a female compatible version of the american m65 jacket, official and shit too, it's nice for winters and comfortable as hell if you don't do extreme acrobatics (it fits _just_ right in, not one inch too big)

my favourite for trendy street (aka shit) clothes, or for pants, is something called as cheesy as Bronx Clothing.. afaik they sell their stuff all over europe.. cheap and decent quality. not good by any means but they won't fall apart too easily. comfortable synthetic materials.

shrug. find an army surplus store. go in. ask if you can try stuff on, see how it feels. they'll understand. remember to shave your hair off and wear a pilot jacket. preferably with 80's rayban glasses. there's at least one army surplus junk store in every city. even at tampere. though often the case might be youll have to pay your ass off for some of the clothes.. for example i paid about 100 us dollars worth of old FIM currency for the m65...

jussi: yeah there's a military surplus store here. got some good paintball stuff. there's a black magic autococker for ~$300 us or so. the prices are decent too. the pants range from $25-$45 us dollars i think. they've got new, used, american, canadian, etc.

I edited my message so it would have some smileys. I realise it could have looked like I was being serious... Confused
As to the point I was making... If you wear camo you either pull it off, and look like a freak serial killer army fanatic (see above), or you don't, and look like a dork.
Maybe it's different in canada?
