Ok, I was a member here about two years ago, and I was so impressed by all the drawings here that I started doing it myself alot and alot and alot, so now two years later I'm drawing alot better, and keep improving, slowly but I'm getting better But that is on paper, now I got this nice computer etc.. but not a wacom, the pain ...
I was just wondering, if you guys knew any artwork (online) or if you happen to be an artist, that 'paints' using a mouse, and not a tablet (pen).
So you start with scanning in the pic, and then paint it in with a mouse. Just some artwork to keep me motivated would be nice, cause so far I think I'm just gonne HAVE to get me one of those overexpensive tablets =/ |

everythig on my site is painted with a mouse.
I recently bought a tablet, but nothing that's posted on my site is done with it... maybe that could motivate you...
but don't get bogged down in the fact that you don't have a tablet, it's just a tool, as is anythign you use in creating art. The tablet in my opinion is useful, but not at all and end means to making some good work. With the mouse the only luxury you don't have is pressure sensitivity, and the freedom of allowing your hand strokes to be evident in your paint, but you could achieve all that with a mouse....
And also learn how to do it with a mouse first, because you'll begin to understand that it isn't what you use, but how you use it that makes it... (I don't mean to sound cliche, but the only real drawback to a mouse is the fact that you have to clean it every once and awhile, unless you have a laser mouse)
but again, all my work is done with a mouse, prior to buying the tablet, now I definitely support the tablet, but that didn't mean that before I owned I didn't do work, or my work suffered!!!!!!!
The tablet is more efficient, but it's not the answer to making your work easier, you still have to know the basics and apply tht knowledge to whatever tool you use to create..
heres my site:

Tools make the job easier, but they never replace talent. It is possible to make great works with nothing more the a mouse, but it's harder then with a tablet. Either way though, if you don't have the skills to create the work in the first place, neither will help you. |

I agree with General Confusion, you can have all the software the best tablet and the biggest fastest computer and still come out with less than "good" artwork. With or without a mouse principles of art and ALOT of practice tends to back up alot of an artist work. Even soem free painting programs come out with great stuff you still need the knowledge of the program just as you would the knowledge of a charcoal pencil or pen & ink..it comes with time which turns to skill in which can further your drawings inorder to get what you want out of them not what your software can produce or mouse and tabelt can...you need an artist or a person wanting to be one to use these principles otherwise they are usless....but thats just what I think......

Here's a neat trick I saw in a book for doing mouse lineart.
Do a rather large drawing. Put your mouse on top of the drawing and trace around your lines. Pretty nifty I thought
It's not the size of your wacom but how you handle your mouse, eh?
Good luck,

I agree with makototaramoto and just about everybody else in this thread. I find it takes longer, and can get frustraiting with a more clumbsy device. But if your willing to put in the time for excellent art, then your willing to work with what you have. Keep it up, you'll get there! _________________

I sure hope so
I'm so lucky, I found out that in my brother's soccer team there's an artist ! Should see the work he makes, he draws those warcraft type of creatures, you know, the orcs etc.. damn amazing, I asked him about some good books, and he was gonne see if he could find his old books to share them with me He doesn't use a wacom though, he uses his body lol (the only tattoos in the world that looked that good lol). It's really amazing to see an artist at work, you give him a blank sheet, and an hour later, there is this whole new world, and you can feel it, even smell it, yet it's just on paper Damn I wanne get that good ^^ |
