What if all TV Stations would stop sending their program today? On every 200 channels there would be the same image resembling the noise filter in Photoshop, what do you think would happen?

[edit]You call the TV station and they say it will never start sending again[/edit]

There'd be a lot of calls to the program providing company.

The world economy would take a real bump, and I'd be pissed as hell not to be able to see the continuing series on Fox called "24"

I'd miss CNN too... hate reading newspapers...

I hardly watch tv anymore. But I think it would be fun.

Right now TV mostly encourages reading, imo.

People would be confused and perhaps angry. But who really NEEDS TV? ONE day without TV isn't that bad. If it was longer, people would start doing more constructive things and humanity will grow new inventions and idea will be born.

Eh - no big deal for me really. There'd be some programming I would miss, but it wouldn't bother me too much.

So what's your point, really? Are you one of these "kill your television" activists?
Razz

Ragnarok has a great point. I often find myself doing the same thing; after a good documentary on WWII or astronomy or just whatever, I find myself delving into the subject by hitting the bookstore, library or Internet.

There was a time when TV as a whole really sucked. To some extent it still does, but with more channels and great programming it's hard for me to dislike it. The Learning Channel, Discovery, History Channel, Scientific Channel, Tech TV, Food Network, Independent Film Channel - I could go on - all great stuff! Now that isn't to say I watch a lot of TV, because I don't, but there's better stuff out there to watch if I decide to do so.

You are quite optimistic! I think anarchy would rule, people got depression, start thinking for themselfes, Armageddon, Alien Abduction etc.

I perhaps watch too much TV Wink

Tom - Holy Christmas, No! This was just a philosophically "what if" question. =) I think TV manipulates the whole public very much, we already don't realize it.

Tom, my point wasn't exactly that. I was also talking about that, but my real point was that in "normal TV" (here in spain people usually have like 6 channels in spanish) the programming is so bad that instead of watching tv I'd prefer reading. There are also digital platforms, my family watches one of these, and there you can find some of the channels you named. And yes, that's worth watching. =)

Ahhhhh... - I gotcha!

6 channels?? Bummer - if I had six channels I'd be reading a lot too!

I think we'd have 200 million people watching the static on their sets, with a bunch of A/V geeks with HDTV bragging about how much clearer the noise is on their sets than on some old puny analog set.

Just recently finished Alan Dean Fosters "Icerigger"-Trilogy. Would read that again... Or perhaps some Lovecraft stories. Who knows, TV could be an invention by Cuthullhu himself. We could see his minions flooding the soaps and talkshows every day Very Happy

I don't watch TV often. Its enough to have to look on the computer monitor all the day.

a whole lots of people would lose their jobs.....and yeah it would be anarchy....literally.

good bye world economy,

just had a funny image in my mind thinking about that situation....in a "post apocalyptic" world with no TV the black maket of video cassettes would become the biggest cartel hehe.
