Awetopsy - thanks, we'll see how long my attention span lasts.

flat - thanks, glad you dig it.

kness - yeah, they are pretty uneven, so it's nice to see which ones people think are working and which aren't.

Here are a couple more from this morning:

Damn dude.....

I usually don't feel it's necessary to complement an artists work twice in one thread, but these are seriously kicking some ass. Really good work man, keep em coming. Smile

Ps. That one of your father is outstanding.

I'd say that's your mother and your wife...

I really like the second one, the pink tone of the shirt adds a bit of coolness to the pic and the face is rendered very smoothly but yet with personality.

Malachi - thank you man, I appreciate the support. Especially coming from you, thanks.

Ragnarok - good call, it is Mom and Wife. This one is my sister's husband, dressed as a cleric or something.

Hi Max

Depends on if I am concentrating on creating a good likeness - then it takes a couple of hours. Otherwise, about an hour or hour and a half or so. Thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying these. I am having a good time working on these, and learning new things.

This one is no one in particular.

Francis, it seems like your developing new portrait techinques.

I like them. The last one has a nice 60s look Very Happy She also reminds me of the girl in Spiderman, when she is dressed with the red chinese dress. Nice =)

Yah, I was hoping it would look like those old photos from the 60s and 70s that have gone sort of purply-pink. I wonder why that happens?

Anyway, here's another one I just finished tonight and so I thought I would post it as well:

I think the purply effect might be because of the quality of the film used, or of the paper. Like the newspaper gets all yellow after a month...

I love the last pic. It shows more experimentation and that's good imho Very Happy Bigger lips, different colors, nice rendering!
Personally I find the other pics more pleasing. In the other hand, the more you experiment, the more you learn and the better you become. Don't you think? =)

Hi Francis =)

These are really great. I really like the painterlyness of them. What resolution are you working in, if you dont mind? I really like the ones of your parents and your wife...there seems to be more detail in them, they seem to "pop" the most. A factor of more time, elbow grease...motivation? Just curious =) Thanks for sharing these!

A_Lee_N - thank you, I am trying. Learning a lot...

Ragnarok - yeah, I agree, experimentation is good. Colors are pretty whacked out, but I wanted to get out of that red/orange palette for a while. Didn't last long, i guess.

Hey Craig - these are about 640x800, then I res them down to save a bit of bandwidth (not much I know). I guess with the ones where I am trying to get a likeness of someone in particular, it looks a little more "worked." The others are more quick studies of lighting/color/anatomy, so they are not so fussy. Hopefully..

Another one:

I love the way she looks, her eyes are vivid.

Her smile looks a bit off to me, though, like it isn't well aligned with the eyes.

And the palette is more balanced, it isn't orange nor purple/yellow. Looks like a winter's morning to me Very Happy

Hey Ed - yeah one is my wife. Can you guess which? Steven is still at the same place, as am I - our studio got acquired by Rockstar Games. Guess it's a cool thing... we'll see if there are any big changes soon. Wink

Ragnarok - cool, thanks for the feedback - I'll look out for that in the next ones.

xmmx - thanks, glad you like them.

Dr Monkey - cool, I'm glad you think so.

More spam for the thread that won't die:

Man, you're great!
It's unique how you mix all these elements like light values etc and give 'em this special style.

WOW! Francis your first picture of the Digital Color Art at TeamGT images (01_aerial.JPG) was my favorite for a very long time. I didn't associate this thread with your name for some reason. I didn't know that there were lots of updates ... each better than the other! This is insanely great stuff!
Please keep it up!

I like it, but imho, for the effect I think you're going to, the purple part should be flat colored and sharper, right now it looks really unfinished with those red lines and the purple brush strokes. And yet it looks great Very Happy

About the previous one, no crits from me. Well, yes, my crit would be "why isn't she alive??" Wink
