This is my first art post on Sijun forums so... Hi! Very Happy I know I'm not nearly as good as most of the people on these forums so I need some help from you guys. This is basically my first real try at a digital painting and I specifically need advice on the hair, smoothing the skin and making the features look more realistic.

The smudge tool is our friend. Ill will help you smooth out the skin a little. I think the eyebrows are too large maybe? They go all the way down to the eyes and they really shouldnt. Perhaps the lip color is a bit too intense. And as for the hair.. I remember seeing a good tutorial for hair online. If i can find it again i will post it for you.

Smudge tool is not your friend. It really does make images smudgy instead of clean and crisp. For smoothing out the skin, lowering the opacity of the brushes you're using usually works the best.

i just saw this movie yesterday (for the first time, doiink!!.. sorry for all of you ring fans) but it was the extended version- 3 hours 20 minutes (40 minutes longer than the cinema version). anyway nice drawing. as i recall, he wasnt human so its hard to apply the typical human face structure crits to him but what the hell..
the nose looks like you stuck a bannana sideways on his face.. too dark shaddows on one side and too light on the other. try to gradient it more. it doesnt look like its at the same angle as the rest of his face elements.
not enough shading on *his* right chick(spelling.. so sue me, im not american) and near his right eye
his left chick is too big
he's missing neck muscles. it looks flat over there.
eyeborws look like the fur on santa hat. the hairs go everywhere. *observe* at your eyebrow in the mirror to check the hairs' allingment.
hair on the head lools good to me ;]
his lip on our left is too lighted. it confuses about where the light source it at.

glad to be of oyur assistance.

fix those and you have a great work.
its great as it is but it can be better
