Donnie Darko - recently watched it and thought you might like it. Dont search for much info before you watch it, its better that way I think for most movies, but especially for movies like that...

Hmm, these movies are my favorites:

the experiment (Das Experiment)
Alien
Donnie Darko
The andromeda strain
run lola run
princess mononoke
lost in space
logans run
tron
1984

Well, looks like I am addicted to old sci-fi movies... I love Jack Arnold movies as well Smile I think I have watched "The creature from the black lagune" more than a dozend times at the theater and much more often at home... Have you ever seen "It came from outer space" in 3D? Very Happy
And, yes, and those old movies with Vincent Price (House of Usher)... I can't get enough of them.

There are tons of classics that I didn't mention because they're old... for some reason I'm not into old movies..but they're still good..

Citizen Kane (said to be one of the greatest films in the history of films?)
7 Samurai
1984 (Even a better book *definitely should read!*)

Legend (with tom cruise, i've only seen the last part of it..but it looks cool)

I really want to see, Adaptation. That looks like a really good movie.
Do you guys know anything about Gummo? Its done by the same people as Kids...

there's some great lists... Keep them coming

Gummo eh? My friend owns it (he's likes weird movies), and personally, I think it's a piece of trash. Very odd, disurbing at times, I dunno, I just didn't enjoy it. Wasn't the 'good' kind of disturbing like Requiem For A Dream is, either. They kill cats in it, maybe that's why I didn't like it.

Some of my favorites:

The Princess Bride (didn't see it mentioned, probably my most favorite of all time)
Goodfellas
Casino
Batman
The Shawshank Redemption
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
The Shining
Edward Scissorhands
Jurassic Park
Dumb And Dumber
Rushmore

Just some, a lot were mentioned already

YES! Shawshank Redemption, that's another excellent movie.
I think Gummo is similar to Kids then, just because its so messed up and it really doesn't make too much sense. I guess that's why its kind of intriguing. It's just a world that we're not familiar with.

The Negotiator (Samuel L. Jackson and Kevin Spacey)
The Professional (Natalie Portman and Gary Coleman)

Those are two good movies people wouldn't consider "high class" films but they're still really good.

For those who like Princess Mononoke, there's Spirited Away (VERY CRAZY)
and Totoro (family movie). totoro's awesome.

Oh right, westerns.. I don't think i've actually seen any tuly western movies. The closest one is.....like Wild Wild West..haha.
The western thing reminds me... gangster movies!
Last Man Standing with Buce Willis is good. Man does he ever get his ass kicked.

If you liked Citizen Kane, then:

. Casablanca
. Chinatown

My two fave westerns:

. Unforgiven (amazing)
. The Outlaw Josey Wales

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, while not a traditional western, was a lot of fun too.

To those who liked Vanilla Sky:

It's just a remake of the spanish film "Abre los ojos", which was much better (like most of the films that remakes are made from).

-The Shawshank Redemption (I don't think it will never be equalled for me)

-Donnie Darko (it has it's problems, but for some reason it's one of my absolute favourites... just a beautifully done movie. Incredible soundtrack too)

-Mystery Science Theatre 3000: The Movie (best when watching with other people)

Taxi Driver
Raging Bull
Pulp Fiction
Castaway
The Seventh Seal
Rainman (not that high on my list, but still good)
The Hustler & Color of Money
Always liked Oliver the musical too, the version with Oliver Reed as Bill S.

That's all I can think of for now Smile

LEOLO: A canadian film about a really interesting boy ("Because I dream, I am not crazy. Because I dream, I am not"). My all times favourite. Great sound track too.

BREAKING THE WAVES: Dogma. Great great movie. Lars von Triers.

THE RED THIN LINE: War at Guadalcanal/Solomon Islands. The poetry of desperation in war.
