Haven't presently got time to contribute a drawing, but I found a photo of the Northrop B-35 and thought it demonstrated how feasible some of the designs in this thread actually are.

hey that is what I was remembering! I wimped out and put props on the front. I think I will crop that thing and make it more clear that those are people on the ground.

Geez it's brown. Of the million reasons to dump my mac, add another one.

I should have spent a little more time setting this one up.

Thoughts on painter- Maybe it is just me and my inexperience with it, but it seems a little like a lens flare to me. Lunatique complained about the cheezball impasto, I kinda agree, but I am finding the whole program to be a little this way. It does what it does, it is not very flexible, and it stamps itself onto every image. Given Painters billion interacting brush controls, it seems a little od to say that Photoshop seems a lot more flexible and varied in it's output.

As I said, this is probably my own inexperience, but I can see those painter brushes a mile away. Same is true for PS, but you can disguise it if you want.

Anybody agree/disagree?

PS you have to post a pitcher if you wanna answer:)

Painter to me is good for doing effects and being able to see the brush strokes. Although I think the watercolor feature is pretty nifty.

At one time I had both Painter and PS opened at the same time and kept switching the same painting between the two programs. It was pain in the butt, but got some good results.

Spooge about your comments on painter, I agree, but then again I've had painter for well over two years now and still have no clue what I'm doing. I also cannot discuss photoshops + and - with you. But it seems that most of my favorite works by you people seem to be done in photoshop. Anyone know what Sparth uses? Also hardcorepixx?

Anyone that seems to have alot of organic looking texture in there works seem to be using photoshop.?! Agree, disagree? Let me know, and why?

This helicopter is garbage but it has a Propeller. Comments on making this more believable..., share please.

No image to post, but some two cents.

in agreement with Spooge Demon about Painter brushes on the radar of ..."hey, he used Painter!" But, the same thing goes for PS.

Sometimes, if you want that stroked, oiled alla prima style...I think Painter excellent...however, for your highly rendered pieces, the brushes, especially the airbrush, don't seem to adapt as well as PS(especially 7).

No comment on interfaces...I think we can all nod on that one.

Spooge- actually, I had a very hard time telling what Jason Manley used for his Icewind Dale portraits(he's a Painter guy). It's kind of the same with Seegmiller too. On the other hand, I could easily mistake Greg Pro's digital stuff for Painter, when he's really a Photoshop guy(I think?).

But I agree with you--only because of what I see in your work. Your Painter stuff has neon signs of "PAINTER" flashing on it, while your Photoshop stuff leaves people scratching their heads wondering "Is that Painter or Photoshop?" Maybe it's a true testament to the power of Photoshop's ability of disguise its origin. I really don't know.

I would venture to guess that what you are feeling is due to being helluvalot more experienced in Photoshop. You know all its quirks, shortcuts, cheats, and remedies for problems. I bet if you had spent the same amount of time in Painter, you'd have others scratching their heads wondering, "Is that Photoshop or Painter?"

Is it really a bad thing to be able to tell it's Painter? I mean, you look at an oil painting, and you go, "Yeah, it's oil." but without any negative stigma attached to it.
