Need some titles of excellent movies. Preferably indie or creative films..not cheesy action movies you guys might find great for entertainment. Hopefully the're will be some great films that I haven't heard of.
To start it off, I'll list off some of my favs. No particular order
More Popular Ones:
Fight Club
The Matrix
Memento
Vanilla Sky
Pulp Fiction
Seven
Possibly Less Known Ones:
Requiem for a Dream
SLC Punk
SFW
Kids
Nowhere
Run Lola Run
What Dreams May Come
meh, there's probably more... |

nah. i haven't watched many movies in the last half a year or so.. though recently i watched the ring and the ring 2 (or are they Ringu and Ringu 2or whatever the hell the japanese thingys are called.. not the american one, which blows.) i liked those, though i wouldn't call them easy entertainment. dunno what to call them, suspension building horror? shrug. _________________ "hey, wanna dance?"

Both LOTR are very good movies I'd have to say. What makes it such a bad movie? Maybe it has a more personal connection to those who read the books in fourth grade...but even just as movies, they're quite spectacular.
Oh and Starwars is great..i personally hate episode I and II. |

Minority Report is a great movie. Watching the previews I thought it'd be predictable... Cruise would just end up killing someone while trying to run away...but it had an awesome twist.
Evil Dead movies! I have to go and watch those again..they are hilarious. |

Matthew: you're thinking of Gattaca. And yes it's a good film, although it's a lot more mellow than the sort of films Mitz has listed.
Mitz: it's tough to define what sort of film you like based on that list, but lets see-
--
Good films vaguely like Memento/Vanilla Sky:
The Usual Suspects
Cube
12 Monkeys
Dark City
--
Good films vaguely like Seven;
Silence Of The Lambs
L.A. Confidential
Taxi Driver
Sling Blade
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Snatch
Two Hands
--
Good films vaguely like The Matrix;
Ghost In The Shell (my fave anime)
The Fifth Element
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Blade Runner (new special ediction DVD release coming up in Jan I think)
Aliens (Alien is more of a straight horror)
Terminator 1/2
--
Good films vaguely like Run Lola Run;
Being John Malkovich
Groundhog Day
--
Pretty rough list. _________________ Art Links Archive -- Artists and Tutorials |

hmm...
Amelie
7 Samurai
Gattaca is good like someone already mentioned.
P.S.
I also think that Lord Of The Rings movies are kind of... crappy. Well the first one is ok. Second one was a complete dud.
And the new star wars... talk about having no hint of a soul whatsoever. |

Hmm... when it comes to movies something seems to be really wrong with me. Most movies that are generally concidered as cult movies I just dont find any spectacular. Like:
- Starwars (all of them, where as Episode II was the best.)
- Blade runner
- Odyssey 2001
- Fightclub
- Matrix (was good, but not worth all the hype it got)
- Pulp Fiction
- Monthy Phyton
- Alien (all of them)
...
And to make matters worse, the new Enterprise series actually manages to entertain me...
Damn, Im somehow on the wrong planet... |

Hey, I hope I am not giving you the wrong title again.
*Dark Crystal
Greatest Fanatasy adventure ever, but it was like 10 years since I saw it....maybe more....
I think it was someone who posted some fanart from that movie in the Gallery finished a couple of days ago. |

The Last Star Fighter; You have been recruited by the Star League to defend the frontier against Xur and the Kodan Armada.
Ghost in the Shell; I've just started the Stand Alone Complex series, and they will possibly exceed this movie. Thats saying something.
American Werewolf in Paris... Tranformations in this movie rule. Better story in my opinion than the first one, too.
Studio Ghibli movies (Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind; Laputa, Castle in the Sky; My Neighbor Totoro; Kiki's Delivery Service; Princess Mononoke; Spirited Away.) Disney has a lot of nerve not re-releasing these here... Heh. At least I've got Ebay and Kazaa.
The Adventures of Baron Munchausen; great fantasy themes here. It's a bit like Alice in Wonderland.
eXiStenZ; another movie about games that wasn't bad? Wow.
Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness; I wouldn't bother watching the first one over and over like I've done with these two.
Ending my list, I have Farscape and Bubblegum Crisis (original and 2040). (yeah, yeah; I know they aren't movies, but they have a great cool factor.) |

Here is my share.
Dancer in the Dark (have tissue ready, I actually watched that one with Requiem for a dream on one day and it was just...too much)
Trois Couleurs (Bleu, Blanc and Rouge) ( A trilogy by Krzysztof Kieslowski..everyone should watch these .V.E.R.Y.-.G.O.O.D.-.M.O.V.I.E.S!!!)
Karakter (Character; A dutch movie..won an oscar for best foreign film. One of my favorites)
Rosetta (Dogma...best actrice at the golden palm in cannes)
The Pillow book (Just because its pretty and because the director works with students from my school)
Fucking ml (cute cuddly little lesbians that speek cute cuddly swedish..this movie will make you smile)
Tillsammans (Or probably availabe as Together..same director as the above...this movie will make you smile as well)
La Cit des enfants perdus (The city of lost children; same director as Amelie but thats where the comparison ends...This movie is one of the most beautiful scifi/fantasy movies I've seen)
And the other day I saw Repulsion by Roman Polanksi. Not that I recommend it..I just wanted to brag that I sat through the whole movie
edit- just to put a little more emphasis on the V.E.R.Y.-.G.O.O.D.-.M.O.V.I.E.S |
