Hi
I'm visiting this board quite often and I'm really impressed of your great works here. I just wanted to show one of my own work I'm doing for a roleplaying game (which I actually do for myself).
I know it's way from being good but I just try Wink

100% Photoshop, drawn with a mouse (and a rush filtered background)...

Sorry for the bad english I come from germany Wink

C&C would be very welcome!

It has a lot of potential. It's not spectacular, but it is far better than some works I've seen, and I can see it easily becoming better. First of all, what makes it such a promising start is that it looks pretty good proportionately. I'm assuming you had some reference for it, but either way, good job. The colors are very well-chosen and all look very appropriate.

The main thing that I think would give it a lot more kick is a definite light source. Right now, I see scattered highlights and shadows. Even if it's just a character study, a solid lightsource would do wonders for it.

Secondly, those outlines are very intrusive. They aren't doing much right now but detract from the piece and give it an almosy childish look. YOu should either remove them altogether, or vary the line weights in places. That gives it a hell of a lot more life and style than a solid uniform outline. Go to http://www.artbyfeng.com to see some incredible examples of how much varied widths can do for your picture. Take a look at char_01 in his Character Design section. Don't copy his style, of course, just get some ideas on how to give linework more flair.

The last thing I think would help this piece is details. Small details. Zoom in and work away at it up close, giving it whatever little touches it needs. Some texture to the suit, some little dings and scratches in the gun, some hair, et cetera.

I won't bother criticizing the background... Just don't get too fond of filtered backgrounds. They never fit well.

Overall, I definitely think you could easily make this piece really, really good. It's a great start, especially for a mouse piece.
