Hello
Some of my newest work, actually made today (the Mecha was made yesterday).
I still have some problems with muscles on characters. Which of these has the best muscles?
Is the foreshortening ok? Something I also have fat
trouble with, foreshortening.
Pictures:
This Mecha can also be seen in the Mecha Thread:
Have a nice day and Merry Christmas

I think the middle on has the best musculature, although I would suggest studying from the real thing. The foreshortening on the top works, but the last one doesn't. The way his fingers bend make it look like his hand is twisted around. I like the mecha the best because of the background, actually. _________________ -=-=-=-

I tried to get a Karate pose on the mecha...hehe...you are right, the hand is bending really crazy.
The crazy thing with muscles is when I make the muscles with pencil they look pretty decent, but when I am filling with ink they suddenly appear to be not so good. Does anyone have a tip about that?

Geez, I'm probably going to get slammed for this, but besides drawing from real life (muscle mags work great!), I would also suggest looking at comics too. Sometimes it is easier to look at drawings of muscles than photos of muscles. My anatomy work isn't perfect, but I have improved greatly over the course of the last two years, because I started using photo references, personal references (posing in a mirror) and looking at comics. It's not cheating if you learn from it and not depend on it. Usually once I learn to draw something, I can always draw it again without the reference.
Anyway, I hope I helped a little. Your drawings are great and show wonderful potential. Work on it and show us what you have in a week or so.
Cheers! _________________ Staff artist for Realms of Evil games. |

Ever better. My main gripe here is the middle one's neck, actually the lack thereof. His head looks awkward, and no neck to be seen past the ears. Also, try to remember that pectorals are a part of the chest, and not all of it. On the compliment side, the forshortening on the first one works very well, and Im in love with the color choices. The background on the mecha is also very groovy. |

Thank you SunnyTheDevil and yeah you are right about the neck, I didnt even notice that before, I guess I was concentrating to much on the shoes on that character...hehe
Merry Christmas

You're getting better!! Line art is good, very clean. Your highlight and shading gives good depth!! Keep it up. _________________
