This is my last illustration of my hero character Laiyos from the manga short stories I'm currently working on (and which will see the first pages appear online in about 3 weeks... for new year's).
Hope you like it. Comments and critics are most welcomed.

....I like the linework and appreciate the sharp look of the character I would love to clean up my style to that degree. Not to sure if the breeze blowing through the grass is too weak to knock the hair around or does the character have super powered hair as well - just doesn't sit right for me. |

Great style !! I agree with the lensflare, it makes your pic overdone. Nice colors as well, gives your drawing a real professional look. Love to see more. _________________ -VLA- |

what lensflare? I'm pretty sure there's no filter involved here.
That eye is strange...the way it wraps around his head - almost like an ancient egyptian wall-painting . The pose is not very interesting or maybe it's just the total profile-shot of the character. I think the character's lighting and the overall color scheme isn't fitting with the position of the sun for some reason. _________________ It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice - Scooter |

I think the Lensflares is cool but maybe the grass could be a little darker
I like the bubbles and or the pollen ine the sky, that gives a cool feeling.
Nice picture and have a nice day.

Thanks for all your comments. There is a lenseflare, it's positionned exactly where the sun would be on this pic... I kinda like it better with than without the flare (I of course tested). As per position, I almost only draw characters from front and I've been told many times that I might try something else... which I really think I did here in matter of pose but also colors. If you take a look at the rest of my collection (on www.saiyan.ch), you'll see that I usually draw darker images with darker tones/colors.
As per the lighting, this may be true, since when I drew the character I had no idea on which background I was about to put it. So while it's not 100% accurate, I think it fits okay. But your comment was totally right, with the sun where it is, most of the character should probably be in the dark or almost... but it might be less attractive an image then (though more correct).
Thanks again for all your comments guys !
I really appreciate it and it really helps me to see how different sets of eyes sees this pic and what they would change on it. . Thx !
Take care, _________________ Saiyan

I did a quick paintover to try to explain what i was talking about, i realize it's sloppy and perhaps not even all that helpful. I tried to keep the lighting on the character a somewhat consistant with the lightsource (sun) and the sky colors a bit redder to make it looks like a sunset. I took away some of the saturation and brightness on the grass and tried (but failed) to make the sword look like metal. I reshaped the face a little (probably not such a good idea). I might be wrong in posting this since it might not be as helpful as i initially hoped it would be and in case you take offence to my painting over your picture just say so and it's gone.
