Well, I wasn't sure whether to post this here (it is fan art) or on the work in progress forum (it ain't finished) but here seemed pretty appropriate.

This is a character study for a piece of Marathon-inspired artwork I am doing for the excellent M1A1 project that is trying to bring Bungie's classic FPS into the 21st Century (and to the PC crowd as a bonus). The character is more or less finished although I need to fix the upper arms and probably rethink the shoulder armor.

I tried to stay true in character to the original Bungie artwork for the character but update it and make it a little more realistic. Given that the original sprites are all fixed-palette 256-color pict files it was sometimes a little hard to see what Bungie intended, but I've t ried to keep in the same spirit as much as possible.

The background is just a blown up wall texture from the same mod (and also used in the Marathon:Resurrection mod for UT), and not the background that will be used in the final piece.

First ever post for me on this board, so let me know what you think. My stuff is very different from most of the work I've seen on the forum so far (I don't think you'll catch me on the speedpainting threads), but I hope you like it.

anaphiel - love the image, welcome to the boards.. i'm kinda new here too. those textures are awesome, you said it's for a Bungie game? i just beat halo and your soldier reminded me of Chief. the trigger hand is awesome, nice detail on the glove and on the shoulder armor. cant wait to see more stuff. do you have a link to more of your work?

I always forget about this old Quake 3 piece:

I really should've given it a background . . . looks way too much like a black velvet Elvis . . .

sweet thread, Andy, thanks for the heads up Wink Well, if you draw some fan art of Suki and Cheri (which you are wlecome to do) I'll have no choice but to start the comic Razz cant very well have fanart without a comic! I'll be back with something here!
