Great piece you've got here! The colors work superbly, and the composition is fantastic. My only comment is that scythes typically have a short handle-bar jutting out from one side, but that's really just a design decision.
Great job! ![Very Happy](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |

as Angelic Remix said greate colors and composition
the only very small crit is that the wood of scyth should have some texture cause for me comparing it to the rest of the pic it looks unfinished but maybe that was intentionally i dont know just ignore me. _________________ portfolio | art blog |

Very nice.
The scythe could defenitely use some more work (when compaired to everything else in the scene). Giving the blade an uneven edge would add a lot to the overall feel of the image, I think. |

that is very cool
I wish it was more Frazetta like in some places, the blade of the scythe i.e. could be darker from the hand up, like a simple shape, and I feel there are more detail than needed in the foreground
I love shapes as in frazetta where several forms get 'fused' together and the rest is up to your imagination, for example here her head could be the liught and all aropund the cloth could be dark like the scythe blade..
just my 2 cents _________________ "I'm not a shrimp, I'm a KING PRAWN !" -- Pepe.

Thanks for all your suggestions, I will look into seeing how they could work into the image.
SolarFlux-Its for me.
Angelic Remix- I actually had handles at the early stages, they formed kind odd tangents, so I got rid of them.
oDD-Yes, it probably could use some more texture.
SouL-I guess I could play around with the scythe some more. What would it add to the feel?
faB-Frazetta-like? hmm...well, I could look into that. _________________ http://www.petersakievich.com |

Why on earth would you tell one artist to paint like another artist?!
Especially an artist like Frazetta who already has way too many people out there cloning his style.....
pasakievich~ I think you've done a great job here. And I'm glad it's in your style and not the style of another artist.
For some reason the tombstones don't really look right to me. The rendering style of them doesn't seem as painterly as the rest of the piece. Other than that, I dig it. The cloth is rendered particularly well and the color pallet is very pleasing to the eye.
Great work overall.

i love this - and i really don't say that often. the atmosphere of it... damn.
i hate to say it though, but i do agree with some of the others about the tombstones. i think that rather than concentrating on their volume so much, you should work on their texture more.
regardless, i could easily see this making a good vertigo-style comic cover. nice one! |
