Big hello to all !
I really would like to know how Joe Madureira is "inking" his art. It looks so different.
Maybe a good tut ( similar to his style )
I tried to contact him but his email isn't working
Thanx to all
Best wishes

you'd have to ask tim townsend or tom mcweeney about that, cos they're the ones who ink his art. all i can say is good luck trying to emulate their styles, because they have pen control that borders on the superhuman. |

Do you know that for a fact, or are you guessing? It seems plausible to me... not saying they're not great inkers though. |

Most likely a Windor Newton Series 7 watercolor brush. The bigger the better. Of course there's skill and dexterity to factor, but to get those sharp points for feathering, you need the best quality brushes. |

well townsend has been using a brush recently (scharff 3000), but on madureira's stuff he used a hunt 102 crowquill pen almost exclusively - it provides a smoother, sharper feathering line than a brush. series 7 aren't as good as they used to be, by the way - most pro's favour the scharff and/or raphael now. |

Thanx for all your answers !
I emailed Tom and for those who are interested here the answer :
"Comic book inking isn't done on computer yet. It's done on paper with a pen
and ink. Joe penciled the art on bristol board and sent the pages to me and I
then I inked them with a pen or a brush.
I'm sure somewhere down the road they will figure out a way to "ink" with a
computer but for now it's still all done the old fashioned way.
