I saw it about a week ago and was pretty pleased with it. From what I've been hearing it's more a love it or hate it kind of flick, I don't know I tend to lean on the love it side.
I dug all the issues brought up by the flick. The whole issue regarding how real the replicants were, how they dealt with memories and etc. If a life with a lost love (even if it isn't really her) was worth foregoing everything.
Alot of people complained about the ending, or talked about how it didn't make sense and I guess that just went over peoples heads... or they merely didn't like the movie outright, which is a fair opinoin I suppose. I just on the whole dug it, the only thing I'd say is don't go in expecting a SCI-FI film. It has several SCI-FI aspects but it's more like a backdrop for the dilemmas the characters are going through. |

I've read the book, by Stanislav Lem, and I liked it.
But, from what I've seen and the poster in apple.com/trailers, it looks like it focus in the love story more than in the ocean and psycologic aspect of the book.
Also, I haven't seen the man in the lab in the trailer, don't remember his name... _________________ "Ever forward, my darling wind." -Master Yuppa

I am afraid to see it, can't imagine them not screwing it up. Original was not a hollywood movie. |

I liked it! The movie asked more questions then it answered, but still I left the movie feeling a bit liked I enjoyed something. |

Dr. Money bring sup a great point here. Some stories are just not made for a main stream audience and can not be molded and shaped to do so. It is kind of like fitting the cube block into the circle slot, you can hammer away at it until you are blue in the face and some of it will fit but it still wont work.
Ya can't blame em though, the book is amazing and it simply inspired them to make the movie, simple as that but the good directors from the bad know when to stop that inspiration from steam rolling them into a corner where they have an enormous budget and pressures to make a square movie for a circle audience. |

too lazy to read or do research of my own.. they've done a new Solaris movie or sumthin?
i really liked the russian solaris.. was it 70's or whenever it was made.. and absolutely loved the book, though it has been a good few years since i've read it and i've efficiently forgotten most about it. sniff. _________________ "hey, wanna dance?"
