I'm sure this has been done a thousand times and more, but f**k it Smile. I want to know what everyone listens to when you're creating your masterpieces.

i'll start you off... For anarchic Twisted Evil energy, I love punk - the Clash and NOFX are my faves. And when i'm trying to create a cool Cool character/scene, dancehall (Beenie Man, Sean Paul) does the trick. When i'm drawing action panels/sci-fi/dredd, it's got to be drum & bass. Especially Ram Trilogy and Badd Co. (not to be confused with aging rockers Bad Company). Oh, and finally, for a more melancholy Crying or Very sad mood, Ray Charles is the man!

How bout you?

Sometimes stuff such as:

Lamb, 12 Rounds, Danny Elfman, John Barry, oy.

But usually I make my own stuff that inspires a drawing...which in turn inspires another song...which makes another drawing...which'll turn into another song...

Rock is supposed to be good for creativity. I listen to white stripes some times when I paint. Or Daft Punk. Or pure techno/dance shit.

I think it is super important to keep an open mind about music because it is so incredible to hear a song and have it paint a picture of a scene into your head, and if you limit your music you limit those scenes.

gezstar yeah tiesto has some amazing tracks, I have 3 cds with his stuff although Van Dyk still amazes me album after album, bottom line he is a god.

This past 3 years my writing has pretty much taken over my drawing. I still love drawing but ever since I decided to make a career out of film and put myself into school for it www.eciad.bc.ca screenwriting has just taken over.

Music is everything for me inspiration wise. Dont get me wrong, I can write without it but it is as though the scene I have in my head is slightly out of focus, then I'll drop in some music and everything just becomes crystal clear. It helps so much with mood, setting, tone etc and that is a massive play in the writing department.

oh here is a little excersize to prove an amazing point about music.

Write out a scene or even start a concept design. Leave it for one day, don't look at it or attempt to recall it. Now the next night just before you go to bed, turn out all of the lights except for one candle way off on the other side of the room.

Turn on the music of your choice and have a personal voice recorder (I have a tiny sony digital, works great) Now start thinking of the scene or concept design and re think it out or just say outloud what comes naturally.

The next day listen to your recorded track and play it while working on the scene or design and you will probably find what happen to me every time.
If some people actually try this out I would love to hear your response.
Just a creative process excersize I do every now and again.

Another is pretty straightforward but gets missed every now and again, this can apply to screenwriting as well as concept designs. 5 words, thats all you get, 5 simple words. These words can be used to describe or highlight points about the character (rage, concern, protection, honesty, lost) and the design or scene must revolve around these 5 words that are used to capture the essence of the character or scene.
