Ok well I've been lets just say lurking around sijun off and on for like 3 years now and felt it was high time I posted something. I'm just getting into sketching, and drawing more as well as taking some classes this spring. Most of the stuff I've done in the past has been band promotions, colages of other stuff like wallpapers and cheap little flash animations. The more I see all the awsome art here the more I want to learn. I'll see some posts and say "Now how in the hell did they do that". Well Here are some things I'm working on right now. Please give any C&C since I'm still learning. I could use some advise on hands and feet. There are tons of sites out there that are really good, but I'm still struggling with it. Yes I've heard that whole thing about practice, practice, and practice some more. On any given day I spend lets say about 3 hours practicing on stuff. The things I'm having trouble with are Hands, Feet, and shading. Though I'm not in any rush
check out the sketches here http://www.azdescent.com/art/artwork.html _________________ "No great artist ever sees things as they really are. If they did, they would cease to be an artist."

Top Left: Great proportions look correct
Top second: Legs too thin Body overall too short. Breasts too circular think of em as teacups the tits are usually towards the outside left or right about a third up from the bottom of the breast and top of collar bone. in essence the should lean outwards from the center of the position not bulls'eye forwards. Face too skinny: the cheek starting from the middle lower half of the eye should lean outwards into curve making the cheek then slight in a sharp twist head down to the chin. the chin should make around a 45degree
curving back upwards then curving to form the other cheek.
Here a decent begginners tutorial to help you out:
Top Third: Breasts need to be brought down a little same thing as second. proportions look better
Top last two: very stick like hmm no offense
Last two: _________________ Thankyou for your time.

Link_omega,
Thanks for the C&C. Funny thing is that I was fixing some of things you mentioned in your post when I started to read it, I should have the changes finished tonight using some of your advice. The first image is the only one I used a reference for ( so obviously it's gonna look better ). The rest have been just concepts with no basis or references. Thanks for the link BTW. I've checked out the tutorials at polykarbon and many of them have been very helpful. I found a neat site that has helped out as well http://members.tripod.com/anime_queens/drawing.html The major issue with the images I've been working on is size. The new version I'm doing is much larger so it's easier to detail and proportion I figured no one would really dig the last few since they are kinda crappy but hey I wanted to have something up there at least. the one I am focusing on right now is the goddess image since the top left image is pretty much done with the exception of color and a little more detail. the others are just tests in one way or another so I'm not to worried about them going anywhere. _________________ "No great artist ever sees things as they really are. The anatomy on that anime_queens site is near-atrocious. And it reflects in your own stuff.
Stick to polykarbon. At least hes marginally better. |
