Another sorry excuse for a self portrait. Noodled around on it until it was the mess you see below. And being posted right after the Captain's awesome work sure doesn't help making it look any better. Anyway...

Oh, and: Excellent work everybody! Inspiring thread! Smile

MrBrian: wow nice traditional stuuf there. Never got n with acrilics they dry to damm fast and I have a bad habit of mixing colors on the canvas

bansq: good work for a first one

faB: Nice contrast gives it a dreamlike look

Daniel Lieske: Damm thouse have a great look to them. Hope you do some more.

Capt.FlushGarden: Nice to see you in this thread. That one is awesome.

Agrajag: Nice sp. You must be in hospital judgeing by the wires Wink.

This one is a bit of a quicky as got home late and need to get to bed. Here it is and night night all.

Damn I can't see Capt Flushgarden sp!!
Good job everyone,
Daniel those are great!
Agrajag That is NOT science fiction, I tell you, that's pretty much what you look like if you;re unlucky enough to develop a spontaneous pneumothorax, you then find yourself stuck in a bed for weeks if not months, with tubes coming out of your chest where you can see the blood pumping in and out at the same time that you breathe ... you also get the nice bubbly noise from the box to which the tubes are connected, which of course bubbles on 24h a day .. weeee !!
tonight's work, spent a while trying to get the eyes right ..BLOODY DAMNED EYES!! Twisted Evil

Daniel, great one(i know them) .. the crazy von is damn good and my favorite! Hope the next will come in the near future. Wink

Capt.Flushgarden, really impressive! Hope to see you more often! Smile

Agrajag ... interesting scene, interesting lightsituation ... and not bad of course! Same as above, hope for more!

Lionel, great one again, but also stupid mimic again. Wink

CaptFlushgarden whoah, nice and loose! I like that speedpaint style where you have details where it matters.
Duracel good stuff!
Lionel I dont have a problem with the expression, actually I tried some myself but I get aches trying to keep my face the same way for 20+ mins Smile You do a good job with the expressions actually, the nostrils seem very small on that one. I think the shapes you use for the colour/value are more or less 'impulsive', try to slow down a bit and squint your eyes and try to see areas of same value.. or try a monochromatic painting where you will not need to worry about colour, this way you will be able to focus on the form and also go in more details in some areas. Judging by the light there's an issue with the left side of the nose, if you squint your eyes the nose almost becomes flat. Keep it up!

faB: I love the hair in that one. I think the eyes are still a little small :/. The rest of the masses seem stop on though. I will try and slow down and think a bit more before I paint as I do rely far to much on chance.

Duracel: love the expression. It looks so 3D Smile. That hair is awesome.

MrBrian: I love the simplicity of your storkes in that one like the way you seem to capture stuff like the ear with a few strokes.

Finally reached portrat number 50 Smile. I though I would color this one as it is my 50th but will start doing some monocrome ones tommorow to do some serious work on my proportions.

you guys are damn good...
Well, I've never done a self portrait before; plus i suck, so to compound my inability, I started this in Painter to try learning that confusing application, gave up and finished in Photoshop. Maybe I'll get the hang of this later on...sorry.
