I got this inspiration of pirates, while I was looking Graig Mullins paintings. I tried to make it with his style.. You know, paint a very nice picture, pick a large darkred brush and mess all over it. Razz Just kidding.
C&C are wellcome as usually.

I did this awhile back using acrylics. I used an old Boris pick for reference.

Here is my pirate cliche. I did this several years ago, so it's not digital.

heehe couldn't resist
slight overpaint over one i did in 1998. Pirates addiction does exist . Once you start doing them, it's almost impossible to break the habit. they're talking to me constantly, with their rotten teeth . especially thee old piece'of eight parrot , he's a constant bugger. oh well

Guys, i keep wondering how u know all those historical elements that makes up pirate scenes. Their clothing (especially details) and design of the ships and such. When u paint a close up with ship elements in background, how do u know where to place what ?

I did a pirate pic ten mins ago and never deleted a painting so fast after it was done. Trying again now.

Starglider2: Go to google.com and write pirate, ship or something like that. You should find more than enough information from there..

if you draw/paint alot you start to look at thinks diffrently. i can see that with time its just easier to think of some good part of clothes that will fit in to youre picture. Plus when you have no idea about what to draw study the subject and use alot of references. (as you can see i didn't used any Smile )

realy what i just wanted to say is that "don't delete your pics !!!" keep them and after some time compare or even repaint your old stuff to see improvements youve made

_Matthew, that silly pirate I did way back up this thread is an old marker drawing. I do a lot of storyboards so markers are still my primary medium.(old school, I know)
