I did a fairly quick character portrait for one player in the Earth & Beyond, a Massive Multiplayer Roleplaying Game (or MMORPG for short):

Background is 3d to get some perspective on the thing, but it's pretty much painted over. Hard thing was the ship in the background. All I had was some crappy pics of a crappy low poly ship with really no form other than the actual model. The textures didn't really indicate anything.

The character was fairly easy, I got the description (mostly her outfit, not much of a "character") and from that I wanted to display her as a sort of independent, quick-decision-makerish, travel-light sort-of space pilot.

Any comments, I know some things are a bit off (arms are bit too long perhaps?), but basically this was a huge learning experience for me Smile

I like the mood of it. And yeah the forearms look a bit long. I think my main crit would be her body looks a bit masculine. I would probably give her smaller shoulders, a bigger chest, and definitely a thinner waist. You might want to add a little to her hips as well. It really looks un-feminine to have shoulders that are a lot broader than the hips. Just my opinion Smile

Good point about the hips versus shoulders. It was a concious choice, I mean, I wanted it to be a bit masculine, but I really didn't give it much though how I'd pull it off. Perhaps I didn't see the hip/shoulder difference, but I still recognized that it was going towards masculine and instead of seeing what caused it I just kept it that way since I think the character was like that. I also wanted to back away from the ultra-sexy superbabes that these kind of pictures usually have.

Oh well, I have more character portraits to be done and they seem to be nice practice sessions since everyone has an idea how their character is and all that needs to come through in the image, not just the right hair and eye color Smile

Thanks Smile
