I basically use the hole range, eg. 0.5 to 100, for grunge-brushes I use pressure.

I am still in the learning process, so things will probably change as I develop my own style, but that is what I use at the moment anyways.

What about you spooge? Wink

Me, I use from 10% to 100%. Most frequently the 10-20% range.

With the style I'm working in now, I mostly use 100% opacity, but with the opacity set to pen preasure so it varies.

With my realistic style, I generally set opacity to about 30% with no pen preasure.

Okay, I'm guessing that if you set your opacity to vary by tablet pressure sensitivity, then it's going to make a difference to your painting (or the way you paint) whether you use a Wacom Graphire (512 pressure levels) or a Wacom Intuos (1024 pressure levels). Is this correct?

I wrote him and he really answered,

a big Thx Craig !

"I use the pad to control the opacity, but I would not say that I use any one opacity over any other. Don't use the finger tool to clean up stuff, but I do use it to loose big edges in the block in stages.

I only use the pressure sensitivity for the opacity and paint with 100%. On the regular brushes I got brushes that are pressure sensitive for either size or opacity. I never change the opacity (always 100%) and on the regular cirle brushes I don't combine size and pressure sensitivity at all. It happens very rare that I use the buttons on the tablet to change between hard-medium-soft.

But, this is not something one person do correctly, it's much dependent on what style you gonna draw and what you prefer as a person. but interessting ofc. to hear what others do.
