Bad idea Lomi!
try to find yourself. internet is great but new artist become more lazy to find themselves any tips or take the time to looking for... it's easy, there's a billion of tutorials on internet epilogue.net, full Loomis book etc..etc;. it should be enough.

vocabulary of a noob:
how d'you make shadow? how d'you make a head? Dude! how d'you meke this texture?? how d'you make nanaana...etc etc...
you get my point Smile

people'll abuse with it. just copy or demos, no originality etc..
i don't agree.

i love to watch any posts from Mr Mullins, great things and very inspiring, but it's enough.
i consider him like a magician.

you'd say: it's my prob.. maybe

a+, i already said that, i love this thread eheh Smile

work hard ! and peace

~20 min, looking on my right :p Scratchboard Tool / Painter classic

~ 1h30, Painter Classic , Sable Tip/Fine Dry Brush
first time I paint like this from real life so I'm fairly happy with it:p behold my beautiful Ficus Natasja which happened to be the most annoyting thing to paint and looks a bit flat I think.. :/

PS: thanks for this great thread, this is probably my fifth digital painting (other than doodles) and the only reason I dont paint more is I always feel this stress of trying to achieve something that obviously is way out of my range right now..especially when I see the stuff in here Razz however starting out from scratch with no set goal in mind and just 'testing' yourself against time I find it quite liberating and it helps me to actually DO something Smile

SPOOGE DEMON : a bit late i know, but thanks for the tips on your forest painting some pages back in this thread. Long time ago i had such useful advice ! The short and very essential way you talk about the basic building blocks of the painting and how you describe how you mentally see shapes in a particular lighting situation was so helpful. For example "trees are cylinders with big balls on top" <--- reading this had a very refreshing effect on the painting part in my visual cortex ! I Immediatly could synthesize the picture of the dark stems of the trees since they are "bathed" in the diffuse shadow because of the "ball" on top, wich blocks out the brightest and direct sky lighting. Somehow a 3D-ish skylight dome effect. Your paintings are my absolute teacher man ! I *will* keep struggling to catch up, i swear ! Cool And, oh my, ....struggling it is... Shocked

It feels its all about keeping your mind fresh and flexible and training it to become an "any visual situation" synthesizer.

Also Oblagon, Palladdia, Vyle, Sparth and others : great studies and skills dudes ! Lovely pixels scroll by my crt everyday !

Wouldn't it be lovely to compile a bundle of ALL the past notorious speedpaint threads in one big bundle ? I hope the mods keep a copy of the threads.

lol Wink

I never pick up things of your voice(written Text) like starglider ... but just to look at your pictures let me learn alot! Smile

Btw, never found your Elv-Head(in the forest, with the detailed skin - sometimes was on the index-page) again. :/ Just wanna see it again.
and, it would be nice, if you had a "crap"-Page, where all postet pictures(like this here) can be found. Here "http://www.goodbrush.com/ftp/" is the access denied.

But thats not important, just my 2 cent.

PS: My Waterfall-Lagoon postet on page 20 is finished.

Just for the people only visit the speedpaintingthread.

Confused like paint less pics instead of that sit and think or
like when painting think more about every stroke of a brush, and analaze more in youre head than randomly stroke brush till it will look good

i'm asking because sometimes doing a brake for a day or two is very good for me, i analaze some stuff and observe, and that is a good thing, and thats why i'm confussed

Think more and paint less. yeah right. Irony ? Is something wrong with analyzing your own thought processes from time to time ? Or just studying someones brush strokes ?

Or do you guys just paint out of the blue. magic. supernatural guidance.

oDD, i think both and all other possibilities, too.

"Think more, paint less" - The whole think is more than technique, its something deeper in your head, in your view. Or like i say: "learn how to see"

Silencio.. silencio!
~1h , I wish I didnt mess up Betty's face, too small and didnt quite get her eyes.. she looks curious / afraid / hopeful, she looks more afraid on my picture oh well. Probably one of my favorite movies ever, bit depressing though Razz

ironfinger I quite like the haze in that last forest pic

PS: looking back at the DVD cover I now realize both faces are viewn slightly from below, I didnt pay attention enough and painted Betty's face almost from front Sad
