O.K. I had to put some title to get you guys to look. This is my first portrait attempt with the WACOM tablet. It's a christmas present for my wife, so I still have a few weeks to work on it. Any and all comments welcome.

That is one cute girl! Love the colors, and the expression on her face. Who is she? _________________ -------Wicked------- |

I think it's fantastic as it is. I'm not sure I'd do any more work on it, it's got a nice painterly quality to it now that might be lost. _________________ Art Links Archive -- Artists and Tutorials |

Love it. Sumaleth's right. The painterly quality of the strokes is very nice and I think they should be left as they are. Color saturation is fantastic. Great piece! |

Wow, really cute
And I agree, the painterly feel it has is really nice.
Hmm... maybe the shadows are too hard above her nose?
Overall... great! _________________ "Ever forward, my darling wind." -Master Yuppa

Vibrant and technically very impressive!
I love the lavendar in the shadows... the color really brings it to life.
You want me to pick a nit? No one would say this but someone on this forum... but this is this forum, so...
I feel like the point where the neck meets the torso is a bit hard and that the process overwhelms the form a bit on the patch of torso that is visible.
Again, a nit. I'm jealous. ![Razz](images/smiles/icon_razz.gif) |

Thanks for all the encouragement. I still feel that I paint like I'm using pigment instead of painting with light. The best artists I see around here seem to have that quality to their work (as though they're painting with light). I think it's one of the most beautiful things about digital painting, because you can't really do that as well with paint. I guess I have a long way to go till I get to that point.
-and yes as many of you guessed she's my daughter (16 months old)
-ejwize, yeah I think the neck may need a little work. I don't mind the unfinished quality, but the color or the contrast is bugging me.
Did the color in the highlights in her hair bug anyone? a little too orange maybe? _________________ Smokey, this is not 'Nam this is bowling. There are rules. |

if the skin tones were more muted, the orange on the hair would be too much. but this is a bright and cheery piece and the highlights are perfect. this is a superb portrait of your cute girl. certainly brightened up my day ^_^ (no, I'm not Michaeld Jackson or R Kelly. Mind out of gutter please. YUCK!) _________________ No matter where you go, there you are. |

That looks great!
But when I look at a picture in this forum I also look for mistakes, or things that looks in my opinion odd so....
I think the Shadows on her eyes are too "much". It reminds me of a scene in a movie where the protagonist gets angry ... know what I mean? _________________ Due the lack of interest tomorrow will be canceled. |
