if anybody has any info that would be helpfull please PM me, im applying to a few various companies in TO but its a pretty grim market here. i even applied to a kids clothing company to make bloody iron ons and didnt get it. it comes down to: find a job in the next month or move back home (2000 km away, away from gf). i have about 7 years experience doing graphic design work (print/web/multi-media/GUIdesign/lotsa youth marketing crap/blahblah) and thats on top of doing custom illustration work. unfortunately my gallery is all "personal for fun" work, but i can supply a design portfollio upon request. thanks for ANY hints tips or help at all. if you can help at all PM me please. i hate to ask, and had hoped id never have to, but im pretty screwed if i dont find work. i have no unemployment insurance or savings or anything.... sorry for being a big greasy windbag.
my site is linked in my sig and it will be updated with 5 new things tommorow noon or so. _________________ eatpoo gallery - eatpoo forum |

Ben,
I know that most web-based means of finding employment are pathetic, but a REALLY good place to pimp yourself is:
www.elance.com
Dunno if you've heard of it or not. Also, being that you're also in Ontario, check out www.multimediator.com as well.
I have a recruiter friend pretty high up in one of the best firms in the city. With their service, they pimp you to HUGE companies, but you are forced to give up a minimal portion of your salary to the recruiting agency once you're hired. A lot of people use them, it's a pretty sweet deal.
Your talent should be able to land you almost anywhere. It all relies on timing I guess. A lot of places just aren't looking. You'll find something, though. I'll definitely keep an eye open for you.
Edit: are you also looking for contract work? Meaning, do you just need to make rent or whatever? If so, that'll be easier to come by. Also, why don't you just take a job anywhere until you find something you enjoy (like, grocery stocking or something with relatively good pay)? |

Roundeye,
I hear you. Being in TO myself, all the great gigs seems to have dried up. Things are EXTREMELY slow, and it's hard to make ends meet (especially considering the expense of living in this city).
You may have to do what many of my friends are doing (and what I am going to be forced to consider very soon) and find a part-time job working in retail or something It's crap, but it's an alternative to moving away.
I don't know why things are so slow - maybe the American companies aren't sourcing projects out of the US anymore? Beats me. |

just get a job at a clothes store or a restaurant. sure its not graphic design, but it pays the bills.
work nights, look for jobs in the day. its easy if you just bite the bullet.
it could be much, much worse. go find a jabroni job and just pay the bills for now. |

It's tough all over right now, Disney in Orlando just laid off a few hundred artists. So, jobs don't come around as often. Keep up the work, and get something local to bid your time, you can always work on trying to find a new job, while you have one, hard to find one, with no income tho.. |

I hope you die, Light. You've said you're "leaving" three times now (once in the past as well) but you NEVER go away.
Good thing I have your name and IP now from that friendly e-mail you sent my good friend "Adam", you fucking dolt.
Do you really think anyone could possibly be interested in your talentless ass trying to teach them anything? You can't even function normally in society. |

Intuous: If you break the law you will be prosecuted. The fact you sent me an e-mail to gather personal information may be construed as an enabling action that proves you are serious about carrying your threats and may given impetus for the law to pre-empt your attempts. Be assured I will do everything within the law to ensure justice.
But.. also I am stop post here. Seems this place is too immature for my taste. I advise all others to do the same. Thanks. Sorry Dhab! You need to get better admins. |

I think we are all looking for jobs, personally Im going to look at international jobs because there seems to be absolutely nothing here in america. Heck its pretty damn frustrating when your more talented than your teacher and they own their own succesfull advertisement firm. But I think that if you keep on looking something will show up sooner or later. |
