I want to see it. I keep meaning to talk to mom about going (she wants to see it too), but I'm good at forgetting things.
I think there's a petition to get Micheal Moore to run for president or something... _________________ ~Gio

only movie this year that I can say I am glad I spent my $7.50. When I saw it the night it first came out, the theater was packed and the whole place kept going from almost being in tears because it was so funny at times to quiet as hell and you could hear a pin drop because of how engaging some of it was.
Go see it! |

*bump*
Just came home from watching it at a local theater, and thought that this topic needs a boost.
Has anyone else seen it other than the ppl who have posted here?
I went into the movie all tired, cold, and not overly eager, but eager enough to see it since it's been getting so much praise from people in here, people I know who've seen it, and mainly my english teacher.
When I came out of the theater, it made me feel really sad inside. Sure, there were hilarious parts in the movie that my friends immediately talked about as soon as we set foot ouf the building (as did I), but truly inside, I felt so sad. When the clips of the surveilance cameras from Columbine school were playing, I seriously felt so awful, almost cried. I can honestly say that I have never cried at a movie (even though this isnt one), Schindler's list is the only movie that has achieved title of "Making Tak almost Cry" award.
*phew* intense stuff. All of you who have not seen it, go see it. Highly recommended. _________________ Just remember, when in doubt, even monkeys fall from trees sometimes. |

I found the movie very entertaining, and very provacotive. I also loved the fact that the most sane person in the entire film seemed to be Marilyn Manson, that was hilarious... the whole consumption/fear cycle was genius.
After coming out of the movie though, I felt that I figured out the answer to the question posed: Why Americans kill each other with guns with such frequency? My opinion was basically how each of the governments in the countries he compared the US to dealt with the poor and the underprivelaged. Take Canada for instance (a frequent comparison used in the film), in Canada the people have a much better wellfare system and free universal healthcare. Suffice to say, it's not the affluent of society that commit the majority of homicides in this country. The poor tend to be the culprit in the majority of these cases, if you treat them like trash expect them to treat you in kind. |

I just watched the "CD1" and still waiting on second part, if you know what i mean.
By god, this is a very important movie. I wish it was more popular and that they made more movies like this and also American History X.
This is the type of thing that will actually open eyes and "improve" the people themselves.. hopefully.
This is good sh*t. A must see for everyone (in this case everyone means everyone since it's an educational documentary).
PS: I didn't know Marilyn Manson was such a cool guy. And who would've known.. I guess it is true, after all, that the entertainer's image is nothing like the real person, and sometimes the opposite. |

I watched it a while ago.... overall a really good movie (for a documentary its too politically slanted), a little too much for my taste in some areas (the thing with the picture of the little kid... thats tabloid level). |

DrunkenMoNk : I know it's been a while since your post, as with mine, but reading over yours, it should be "free national healthcare", not UNIVERSAL!
Shizo : where did you acquire this.... legitimate copy of CD1? I am trying to find it so that I can send it to my brother in Japan to watch. I hope it comes out onto DVD cuz it'd definitely make a good addition to my Uber DVD collection. _________________ Just remember, when in doubt, even monkeys fall from trees sometimes. |

I'm going to go against public opinion here and say I didn't really think I got my moneys worth seeing this. In retrospect, I would have preferred to wait until it was shown on free-to-air television.
Don't get me wrong - I'm a big Michael Moore fan and I think there's some strong elements in this doco, but:
1/ I felt that showing real people being killed by guns was a cheap tactic. I mean, it's clever and entertaining - and then suddenly he's showing people dying to create emotions.
2/ The first half was -very- clever and satirical, with most of the points made through subtext. But then the second half turns into a bad episode of Hard Copy with Moore and his crew just trying to get a reaction out of celebs. How much more interesting would those "celeb interviews" have been if Moore hadn't been trying to concoct some cheap Jerry Springer moments? _________________ Art Links Archive -- Artists and Tutorials |
