Hey guys,

just got my graphire 2 in the mail and im loving it. It came with Pro Create Painter Classic. I know alot of you use Painter 7.

Anyways ive been an owner of PS6 for a long time but even though Painter Classic came with the tablet is it better for sketching?

Forgive me if this sounds like a foolish question but I'd rather not spend my time with Painter unless its worth it.

Thanks guys

Not knowing anything about either, I will toss in 2 cents...

The most important thing is that you are comfortable. If PS works for you and you don't find it lacking, I wouldn't see a reason to switch. But if you try painter and it feels more comfortable, that would seem to be more important.

But I am talking out my ass and probably shouldn't be listened to.

Hi,

Painter Classic has some very nice brushes and a feature called Clone painting which can be useful, depending on what you want to do. It doesn't have Layers, so if you need them, you'll have to use Photoshop. It also has only a very limited selection capability. Basically, Painter Classic is an appetizer to get people interested in buying a full Painter version.

If all you're going to do is sketch, Painter Classic is fine. I'd suggest using both programs since even Painter Classic's painting and drawing tools are more advanced than Photoshop's brushes.

Install Painter Classic and play with the brushes. I think you'll find them fun.

If you are looking for not so cold strokes as Photoshop creates, a.k.a. "traditional art strokes", go for Painter. You won't regret it.
